Comp hunts?

I got a good pup here that i'm gonna soon be comp hunting. I've been a pleasure hunter but am getting into comp hunting so i have a few questions on how it works like how you're hound gets certain titles and what they mean?

Also how does the points work with the hunts?

rule book

get a rule book from ukc and read it from end to end then 3 more times read thru you have to know the rules or you WILL get screwed thanks tim

Wouldn't hurt to spectate on a couple casts and pay attention to what the handlers and judge are doing.

best way to ruin a good pup is ( a) to much electricity . (b) start taking him to a night hunt every weekend exposing him to who knows what . one night with miss treeing idiots or a rough hound can sure set a good pup backward on his training .

How long have you been hunting this pup?
How well do you know every bark he uses?

If the pups the right kind, it shouldn't matter bout the treeing idiots, they're not tied together! As far as rough dogs, it don't happen as much as those who don't have what it takes to win claim it does, but it does happen. Just use good judgement.

Learn the rules, be honest with other handlers and with yourself, be a good sport and I'd practice calling my dog pleasure Huntin with my buddies. Oh, and good luck.
