English Days

From Facebook post and results on here it looks like a lot of fun was had by many. I was able to get up to Buffington, IN maybe 4 years ago and man it was a long drive. Like 17 hours for me. Anyway the Family and Friend atmosphere was in the air and it was enjoyable to see that at a hunt. Looks like another great hunt this year and I hope a lot of old friends got to meet again and many new friends were made.
So easy to paint the picture that this sport is dead and I think it may have changed but far from gone.
Congratulations to all this that placed in the hunt or won on the bench. Congratulations to the clubs and UKC for such an event.

Bruce, I couldn't agree more. I too have heard and read several stories from this weekend and knowing the guys that posted the stories, they had a great time. I wished I could have been there, maybe next year. And I'm with you, it's good to see people have a good time doing something they love.

It looks like they hunted 200 dogs on Fri night. I thought that hunt numbers were down?

.

Richard there is no question the coonhound world has been divided into smaller and more frequent local hunts. With that said it looks like the Family and Friendship Associated with the English Breed are alive and well.
I hope everyone involved in making this a success is smiling on the inside today. Something to be Proud of.

Bruce, you are right. I have hunted with some awfully nice English hounds and met some awfully nice English people lately.

Yes, they did hunt a fair number of dogs each night. It was warm over the weekend but there was plenty of shade that was being used. Nice event.

It was a very good weekend indeed.
hunted 141 dogs Thursday in the all English hunts.
203 Friday night and 153 on Saturday night. So the numbers were definitely there.
The host club done a good job of accommodating everything and yes they put us in coons. Met several new people as well as ran into some I have known.

I live in the town that held the English hunt. Our local club put on the hunt and the guys did a great job. We live in a very small town and everyone pulled together and had a great time. Sad to see it heading back to Indiana next year but hopefully our club can get another hunt lined up in the future.
