Armadillos and alligators
Is a grown dog running down and catching a armadillo a bred in trait when it's never seen one before ?
Some dogs after being eaten by the 13 ft bull alligator would be the only time in their life they would be famous enough to make headline news.
I would worry more about mosquitos and ticks but that's just me.
I would rather walk through water waiste deep in cotton mouth water moccasins than wrestle with a gator haha. A grown dog that runs armadillos don't have treeing I coon on its mind.

OutLaws
A many a bank robber, killer, or a street thug came from a preacher's home. Just cause you breed them right doesn't mean that a OutLaw wont show his head up every now and then.
Ronnie H you are right. I seen mean dogs come out of dogs that wasn't mean at all. I seen shy dogs come out of dogs that loved attention. roll the dice

Fellers...I don't know what it is about them but most; if not nearly all of the dogs brought down here from the areas that don't have them will run a diller if they have never seen one. I hear guys talk about running a coon into a hole in the ground. I'd say that 90% of the time it happened here you have just bayed an armadillo. Most guys don't like to admit it though.
Drew a big time dog from up north that holed one in a very public manner one night. Wide open, fresh cut haymeadow, and about half that diller's tail was hanging out. His handler said "Boys, if you'd be so kind as to pull that thing out of the way, we'll look and see if there's a coon down in that hole."
Dillers
went on a state cur hunt one night as a guest and dogs treed in a tree with a hole in the bottom of the tree. I ask could i look in the hole and did .After that I backed away from that hollow tree and look down and didn't say a word until someone said did you see anything? I said yes look for your self. In that hollow tree about three feet up in the hole was a diller.
Armadillo
You bring any dog here to St. Augustine Florida you want that's never seen an armadillo and he'll run one something about the smell and they are everywhere here . And as for a gator you just hold there mouth shut and roll em over and rub their belly they like that .
