Please answer this.
At the end of the hunt does the judge have to accept a handlers call when no other cast members can hear ANY dog what's so ever? Do you accept the call and then apply the 2 minutes right away?

If the judge does not here a dog treeing, he can't accept the call.

Myself, id put down the call and then minus immediately! Im not gonna let a guy pitch a dog . bring it to a vote, or go back to club and cry. The minus would stand.
Agree with Mr. Lovis. Would like to handle it like KevinP
Several years ago that happened in the finals at the world hunt. The dog needed a first tree to win and right at the end of the hunt the handler called his dog treed. The judged ask where he was and the handler said as soon as he barked he would let him know and to put the two on him. This caused an uproar. The dog did fall treed but wasn't allowed to score the tree. Someone from ukc may remember this hunt.
quote:curious to your logic . if you can not hear a dog and accept a tree call there are no points to award and minus. as soon as you put the points on the card the only way to award minus is to be caught by the two minutes .you can not award points and minus them based on your own personal feelings . accept or deny the call are the only options available to you as a judge .

That's is exactly right if u put him down for points you have to put the time on him regardless
Do not accept the call ! If the handler disagrees then he can ask for a cast vote and it will take a majority of the cast votes to override the judges decision.

My logic, don't try to be cute and ****ing cheat. If you try it im gonna score it my way and you can take it back to club. Don't be a ass in a hunt, there be no issue. Pretty simple
Every body don't hear at the same level, but, the cast is judged on the eyes and ears of the JUDGE

Dogs will be called for what they are doing, not pitched when im judging. I don't have problems now and casts go smoothly .
Pitching is IMO" unsportsmanlike conduct" and ought be dealt with accordingly.
Especially when no one heard the dog called treed!

This post amazes me. I thought in the underground handler training program that the most important subject was pitching our dog in the last few minutes. At least a few years ago it was and then walk the cast all over till your dog gets treed.
Might be a couple ways a judge handles this and over time it has changed some in different registries.
The key to success for your CLUB and any KC is a strong judge. Judges do make mistakes. A strong judge is one that takes control of the cast and is no nonsense and all his calls are the same. Some judges minus more trees while another judge may circle one. Don't matter as long as the judge does every cast the same. Same with pitching. Handle it each and every time the same. With the GPS device being used in my opinion it has gotten to the point that if the dog is deep and you actually hear him, you better ask the judge if he hears him before you call him treed. Because if you don't your should be aware that you will be misused. Pitching is out the window. Now if you actually hear your dog and the judge don't you can make the call and involve the rest of the cast. Depending on their position in the hunt they may or may not hear your dog. lol

Doesn't accept the call why ...... Example: (A) the judge accepts the call on a dog he didn't hear , (B) the handler that trees it's dog , (C) question the call cause he didn't hear the dog and wants a cast vote now , (D) votes with handler C he doesn't hear it either. So now the judge cannot say he didn't hear it either cause he admitted hearing it when he accepted it !

Whats amazing is how many times UKC has said you dont take the call and we are still discussing it. By the way there is nothing the MOH can do. If the call was not excepted, questioned and voted on. Even if he said the call should have been taken nothing changes.

That's when the whole cast of the remaining members not just the judge stops it, the judge is to have full control of the cast some do some don't, when a dog is treed at the end of the hunt everyone should be listening to all dogs and if someone pitches a dog deep as treed and it is not the entire cast not just the judge should tell them no, if not then let the judge make the call and if you do or do not agree question it. You may or may not know how the dog trees so if its barking and the handler trees it right at the end of the hunt I'm not moving and I will ask the judge to watch and listen to exactly where the dog is for 3 min of the 5 before we take one step you will be able to tell in that amount of time if its treed or not.
