equipment setup preferences

i have not nailed down a good setup to carry my equipment. every time i go out i find myself trying to gather stuff up and how to carry it. whats everyones preferences on their equipment set up? vests? belts? any other ideas or options?

There is a new item out that a couple of the distributors are carrying. I have tried about all of the the stuff and most had just too many pockets all over the place.

The new item is called a Chest Pack. I haven't tried one yet but even time I look at one I just feel I need it. I can tell you that they are selling good!

It has two pockets on the front and a center sleeve for shocker. If you look closely it has a zipper on the left and behind the front pockets you have a large area to carry secure items or score cards.

Many hunting supply dealers are starting to carry them. I think they may be the future.

What all do you carry? I never have seen a use for all of these vest and pouches. Everything I need goes in my pocket.

They are around fifty bucks. Joey there are a couple thoughts behind vest and pouches. They give you a home for your equipment when you done hunting and keep stuff together. Up around the chest also protects wallets and electronics from water.

I got a vest after I dropped a Trashbreaker out of my pocket. Luckily I was able to find it the next day. Got an alpha and have been using the gizmo vest since it got too warm for a jacket. I hate how bulky the gizmo vest is but to does work well. The vest was handy to keep some some bullets and tp. Also had a beer can pocket which I liked. A chest pack of some sort seems handy

I like the vest personally. Got a few smirks from my hunting buddies when I bought it a few years ago. But now they all have them. Comes in handy having a few extra pockets.

I have my Garmin and my squaller hung around my neck and extra batteries in my pocket. .....no need for anything else that I can think of....

Posted by H.W. Moore on 04-19-2017 01:42 AM:

I carry an alpha, compass, EMT gel, a cigarette lighter, squaller and ammo in the front of my vest a belt light & spotlight on my right, pistol and extra flashlight on my left and water bottle in game pouch.

dans summertime strap vest only way to go. holds garmin, tritonics if dont have alpha, spotlight, shells, phone, camera or gloves, belt pack if use belt light, even pocket for radio when i go big gaming.

i wear it year round. over heavy clothes if cold, over t-shirt when nice. garmin is attached with lanyard so never lose it. i attached dans garmin holder with velcro top instead of using pocket because of debris getting in open pocket and scratching alpha screen. when go hunting dont have to grab this and that, everything on vest. i wont go hunting without my vest.

vest

i dont know if i should try that new pouch or go with the dans summertime vest, chest pouch may be sufficient. i would like to have a spot for a water bottle maybe for summer? garmin, squaller, cellphone, thats about all i carry, just like to keep everything together, tried a lanyard for the garmin but it bounces everywhere and is always in my way.

Pouch

That new chest pouch looks like a fanny pack for your boobs.

Posted by Cory Estes on 04-19-2017 03:50 PM:

Im still using the old belt light, so i have all my stuff in pouches mainly. I just dont feel like im coon hunting if i dont have my belt light on. I plan to get a bump cap in the future but that's how i carry my stuff.

buchcoonhunter we kind of listed it wrong and called it a chest pack. For now you can search the work pack on website but we are changing it soon to come up under vest.
