It's gonna be a bad day !!

When granny finally trees a coon me and Ralph call ole tennis shoes because I am going to shoot his butt we have struck him in the same spot 8 times he has won every time den last night in the middle of a 100 acre briar patch got all of us crippled up I have bad intentions for him if I ever get to see him he is coming out lol !!

If you remember that mounted coon Bruce Conkey got for Christmas a couple of years ago me and buddy chased a coon that looked like him but he had to weigh 35 lbs at least in our minds for five years. We would see him cross the road in the same place and turn loose on him, be would give the dogs a fit, they would burn him up for 400 yards and just go cold and eventually come back to the truck this happened i bet 20 times never had an end to the track. We called him " That long legged coon" I'd love to have another race with him

Tennis shoes don't do nothing but mess up a hunt he goes in the ruff stuff every time all night deal when you get done it's time to go home he is a weekend coon for sure but he will slip up one night.

In my opinion there should be a bounty on the tennis shoe coon

Have you ever seen a coon smart enough to back-track his tracks for 20-30 yards and climb? We still have enough snow you can see the tracks. He's given my old dog the slip. My buddy's young dog, his old male dog, my other buddy's old dog. Seems like we can't get him actually treed. So the plan is to knock him out the next time we hunt up there.

Ralph said Molly sure is trying to tree a lot I said no it's those green briars hitting her in those sensitive spots lol.

My Dad & I killed one like that 34 years ago.......He tricked the Dogs a many a night, finally treed up a HUGE Old Oak, barely got a peek at an eye and my Dad shot him out. We never had a race like that again in that area. We regretted killing him to say the least.

A bounty?????? I had a dog that was good at treeing problem coon, and I always felt bad about killing one.

I like to leave those ones for seed, or for a challenge to an up and coming prospect.

Had a coon like that 30-35 years ago,,chased that sucker for over 5 years,,I used to hunt 7 nights a week back then,,and I only treed and seen him twice in all that time.
Never once did I think about shooting him out,,he was way too much fun for my dogs to track him.

My brother and I had one back when we were just starting hunting we called the ghost coon! Ol Jake would strike in the same spot every time we turned lose there and always end in a ground hole, hollow, leaner Into numerous trees or straight up slicks. I remember how happy we were with Jake when he finally got him treed! Cold frosty night, and neither of us wanted to kill him. Just leashed up the dog and walked out!

Yadkin tar. I think you got murder in your heart.lol

Posted by SHORN on 03-27-2017 12:21 PM:

We also had one we called ghost coon. It would usually run the same route every time, a lap around the woods, up a fence row, across a road into an area a tornado had dropped a bunch of garbage trees that they never cleaned up so it was a tangled up mess. The dogs would always get hung up on a big leaning tree. Always a good sounding chase until it was time to get the dogs off the tree. We never did get him. Now there is a house in the area so it no longer a hunting spot.

Posted by yadkintar on 03-27-2017 12:25 PM:

It's all good till he goes in that briar patch could be worse he could cross red river and you have a 40 mile drive over in Texas to get to the dogs.
