Splitting tree points

I was curious to see what people's actual procedure of splitting tree points is if the dogs have gotten out of hearing. I have heard people say we will just split whatever dogs are there. I take the approach that once you get to a spot where you can hear the dogs obliviously treed I'll let you listen for them. Then after maybe twenty or thirty seconds you need have called your dog treed. I'll run the five at that point and any dog that isn't treed after that initial time when you first hear them takes whatever the next available position is. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I've never had problems doing it this way though. I was just wondering how everyone else handles this situation.

I've been in the situation where they say will split tree points an when we got there all dogs weren't there, after we said we'd split it then the dog that wasn't there was going to get 125 if it had a coon ? Im a firm believer in what you stated as your way. to me that's the only way. Pause for a second or two and draw em boys only time you should split points is when the dog's are on the leash before they get cut loose if their going nuts barking split the strike points but only before you cut em! Once you cut em it's quick draw Mcgraw time!!

How can u tree any dog(s) u can't hear ?..... agreeing to do so is wrong even if the whole cast agrees to splitm .

You can't tree then unless you hear them. I said when dogs go out of hearing then once you walk to where you can hear them they are already treed. I'm from northeast Tn. Dogs can go 400 yards and be out of hearing because of how the land lays.

I guess non of you guys have been the guy that is 20 or 30 seconds behind everyone else while climbing the hill to get to the spot that you can hear the dogs. Even if you wait for that guy you still have 20 or 30 seconds to listen for your dog, while the other guy is still trying to get there. Put yourself in the situation of the other guy, and think of a fair way to call dogs treed that have trailed out of hearing.

I believe the rules state the cast can only go as fast as the slowest cast member... 30 seconds is a long ways to be ahead. Everyone has a chance to listen .. IMO

depends on the cast really sometimes someone says there all there lets split and everyone says ok and that's the best way , then there is the cast with the guy who always wants first tree and says tree my dog as soon as you hear one treed
