Got the cross made between Ace, and Bullet n Honey Run Becky female

Got Lucky bred to Ace. She is out of a double Honey Run Becky Cross; Half brother X Half sister. Her sire and dam are out of Honey Run Becky. She has a double shot of Vinnings Running Bullet in her too. Her sire is out of Bullet, and in her third or fourth generation there is a littlermate to Running Rattler. I will try to get a picture and pedigree up soon. She is a female version of old Bullet. This cross should produce independent hounds with GO in them. I'm excited.

I want to thank Craig Cooper, and Michael Herron for their help in making this happen. These are two of the finest men in the world of coon hunting, especially with in the bluetick breed. Thanks to a couple of great guys!!!!

Every cross is a shot in the dark to some degree. You never really know what you'll get, but when you look at their pedigrees, and each hound and their personal characteristics, this cross has the potential of making history. One of the key factors, which reveal a successful cross, is getting the pups into the hands of people that actually hunt, and know how to train a hound.

It was really an honor that you thought enough of ACE to breed to him Mr. Edwards. You know his breeding better than I do, seeing how you owned or bred over half the dogs in his pedigree. I'm glad we could help, and I'm like you, i think this cross could produce some top hounds if put in the right hands

Get by themselves with a coon. Ace trees a lot of coon alone. He gets by himself on purpose. He's never had a coon shot out that he didn't tree alone. Trees layups other dogs can't open on. Lucky will get alone with a coon. She will split off and stay treed. I know Lucky will honor another dog, but doesn't need another dog. She is independent enough to do her own thing.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I can tell you that I've owned some directly off bullets Running rattler and many Bullet dogs. The two things that stand out are GO and GO. The main thing lacking in our breed, in my opinion.. I haven't got my hands on an Ace pup yet, but I'm going to. You don't do the winning he has being a pretender.

Im probably one of the few who doesn't give a hoot if a dog is Smokey river or Uchtman or so and so bred. What I do give a hoot about is beating the walker dogs in elimination style hunts and bullet stuff crossed on Ace has a good as chance as any and better than most to do it.

Good luck on your cross

GREAT CROSS

I'm like Casey in that I don't care how they bred as long as they have the Giddy Up to use their ability to go find a Coon and a Great Mouth to Call me to come see. Looks like a Great Cross and if I didn't already have plans cooking on a couple other crosses I would book a Female from this cross. Might do it yet once you start booking them. Good Luck with them Mr. Craig!

Did this female have pups? I like the Bullet X Becky dogs a lot.

If you have the papers handy one day, be curious to know the Sire and Dam's names of Lucky.

Thank you Glynn!

I kind of thought from Craig's original description that Lucky may have been out of that cross. I think there were only two females that ended up living from that litter. Ole Hank is still alive & kicking, he will be 14 this September

Not sure if you have hunted her any or not, but if you or Craig could, please share some of the traits (strengths/weaknesses) that you have witnessed hunting with Lucky.

Thanks again for sharing!
Vic

I've hunted her 2 times since she has been here.1st time I hunted her with my old Geronimo dog.Lucky showed medium track speed,Geronimo is faster on track than she was.Geronimo treed 1st and she backed him with a coon up.She lacks in mouth department but not too bad.@nd turn out that night they both started track together and treed split 150 yards apart Geronimo had coon her tree was so thick and I couldn't find it.
2nd hunt I hunted her by herself. 1st drop she struck in the box and treed right off road.2nd drop I dropped her in a high fence and she trailed around for a while and treed on a big holler.

She seems to be a nice dog.I think she'll do a whole lot better after it cools off. She is not as fast as my Smokey River dogs.Maybe not quite as cold nosed(I'll know more after hunting her up this fall)She is a belly up tree dog where my stock tends to tree back off tree. The only real fault I can say she has is she lacks in the mouth dept.Don't know if its because she has a little age or if its just her.
I'll feed her cause I like her.

She comes by the lack of mouth bonestly, the Hank dog has a below average track mouth, and just a touch more volume on tree. The Saddie female had a good mouth, and was overall a nicer hound than Hank. Hank is a belly up pressure tree dog, quick one bark locator off running tracks. Not a loner by any means, but split treed regularly. Hank could be quirky around other male dogs in his younger years, seemed to overcome that with age. He has good track speed on a running coon, but not what I call fast. Very average track speed on older tracks. Hank was not a dead accurate type hound, but treed a truckload of these ole woodlot coon for me over the years. Very good temperament. Close to medium style hunting dog by himself. Not the hound we all would like to write home about, but a regular coon treer. Plenty of folks have seen him go and could tell you about him as well.

I wish you the best of luck with Lucky!
