Sackett Jr
As interesting as the lipper thread has been, it's starting to get boring. Here's another question, what's everyones thoughts on what kind of a impact that Sackett Jr left on the walker breed?
Sackett Jr.
In my opinion .....He was a Reproducing Freak......!!!
A Reproducer of Coondogs, Not just Treedogs...!!

There was no excuse that they were just owned by pleasure hunters is the reason the are not titled a winner will win.
Man....it seems you see his name behind a lot of good coon dogs.....
Sackett Jr.
we had 7 different dogs out of him. only one of them made a real honest to goodness coondog. they seemed to grabs trees to quick, babble off the leash w/ other dogs more than I like, bark a lot in the dog pen! You had to stay on top of these dogs a lot. I had better luck with Jr. back. in the pedigree. Had better balanced dogs out of Cowee Creek Clint who was out of Jr. & a Lipper bitch. Had another good one out of Rat Attack & 100 Proof Molly. I think if you bred Jr. to a real good tracking type female you had a better chance of getting a balanced dog as he through the tree power! Why is that walker specific discussion is never moved to the walker breed message board?

I've had better luck with Sackett Jr bred dogs than any other out there....male I have here now has him once in third generation and Jr. or whitey or their sons are every sire in fourth generation and two of the females put Jr in fifth generation ...so I would consider him sackett Jr bred.... He will more than likely never see a hunt unless grandson wants to try a youth hunt ... But he can definely compete as he has been hunted with a few titled dogs and has shown OK....
From what I seen he didn't need that two or three special females to be bred to him to have top hounds... Biggest hole I seen in his pups some were lazy and some had to much tree but as I have always said one parked can be much easier to cull than one running wild thru the country!
I know the litter that had Master Latch, Late Nite Hooker, Piney Creek Major and two others I think was the top PKC litter for a few years.... Hooker won her whole life Major won his SS and wasn't hunted much in hunts after that...Not great but this was same era that Coma, Nailor, Harry to name a few were pumping 400+ pups a SS year... May not seem like much but he dominated his era with winners and I know of two that were just as good as some of these winners but never campaigned...he's one of the two advertised walker studs I would give much praise ... The other Xjr. ...this is from his era to present ...but we all know what opinions compare to best....
best hound ive ever owned and just never had to train him 5m old doing it all on his own and a hell of tracking dog no complains out of my sackett jr breed dog here.

I have bred females to Jay, Stone, Tell, and Cord. All the crosses produced extremely well. My cross out of Dolly and Jay every offspring were running and treeing before 10 months old. Only 3 of the pups were competition hunted. One female made Gr.Nt.Ch. Another female lacked 1 win to be Gr.Nt.Ch. This female only lost 2 cast when her owner decided he was done. The male I made a Nt.Ch. and after 3 consecutive bad hunts I quit campaigning him.
The Stone cross produce an entire litter that were all running and treeing before 10 months old. Unfortunately, the whole litter except 1 female were dead from getting hit by cars by 12 months old. The female was tied out and allowed to bark and barked herself out. She ended up with a pleasure hunter.
Tell reproduced several titled dogs. Cord also reproduced several titled dogs including Gr.Nt.Ch.Ch. Crocker's Quick Flash. In addition, many of these offspring reproduced. Some of these dogs were also sold to big game hunters. I had 1 cat hunter who had a 4 month old he let out to pee, and when he turned around the pup was gone. The pup was at a tree on the other side of a white water stream.
I have hunted with so many Jay dog's I couldn't count. In one word balance best described them. I always hear how many slick treed and did this and that, but that is not what I witnessed.
