Collar Lights

When my dogs get near a road I turn on the lights of their ecollars but have been thinking about a collar light to leave on all the time. I was wondering what yalls thoughts about collar lights were and what's a good brand of light

..

I will let the others tell you which brand but the style of them come down to basically two.
One style has an off on switch and the other style you loosen and tighten the lens to turn it one.

Like all products I have heard pros and cons on both and will be interested to see what others say on here. Being down here in FL with not many roads near where I hunt I personally don't use them and the light on my Garmin collars are enough. I know at events up north it seems like most people want them.

I really like my Sportdog Beacon light. It works great and has the on off button. Really bright. I bought mine from
gundogsupply.com

I wish I could find more of the old tracker flash's. The sportdog one I bought doesn't compare. The lens fell out after 1 cast in the woods. I still have 2 of the old trackers. The closest thing to them is the adventure lights. But I could see where you might need to modify them to not fall off the dogs collar going through brush. So really just a crap shoot.

I have both ,been running them 5 years or so on beagles in the weeds and briars in indiana and the swamps and spruce in the UP Michigan, temps from 90s to below zero ,rain, snow, etc ,as far as brightness the sd is brighter but not enough it matters much ,the battery life is about the same on flash ,the egear lights are hard to turn on/off if they are wet or your hands are wet ,you have to about unscrew the lens all the way off or it still blinks ,thats when i lose the lenses
i use green and blue ,people seem to slow down more for those then they did for yellow/red/white
If your close to a road or town the green/blue stand out more then the others ,at a distance the red/white/yellow look like autos or mc lights

I decided to try them last yr. I ordered the clip ons from Nite Lite. They had 2 different ones so we tried both. The first one (probably Adventure) we tried was yellow and was nice and bright, we really liked it until we lost it.
The other ones were red. They weren't as bright and after I thought Ruby was standing on a hill and realized it was a cell tower, I decided no more red.
Ordered 2 blue and 2 white for Christmas presents. Have only been out once with them. Liked the blue. They're Adventure quick-clip collar lights.

At least twice, cars slowed down when the dogs got close to the rd so we won't be without them.

I'm using Adventure Lights Guardian Hunting Series Dog Collar Light ,you screw the lens in to turn on. Seems to be bright enough.. Batteries are supposed to last about 250 hours...

Thanks for the help, I just ordered a couple sportdog beacon lights in blue.

I use NiteHowl led glowing collars, they are cheap $13 & we got the last one at Target. Just use tape to secure the ends.

Not worried about traffic, mainly being able to watch the pups work from 3-4 hundred yards away without depending on the Garmin.

my buddy has the type that ya have ta twist thier they work good i bought 4 of the sportdog lites imo they are on the brighter side but had the cover come off 2 of them for some reason thats the only downfall that i se in the sportdog lites

I've been using the collar lights for years. I think the best ones are sold by nite light. I tried the lights with the push on/off switch. I lost the lens. Another vendor uses the screw the lens on and off but they are not as bright. The nite lite are the brightest. I mostly road hunt. I like to keep two on each dog just so I can keep up with them and not run them over.

The two main ones you will find for sale at the hunts -

Adventure Lights Guardian
&
Sport Dog

I own both (as well as the older Tracker Flashes that are no longer in production) and they're both basically the same light except for the on/off feature. They both feature the ability to make the light flashing or solid.

ADVENTURE LIGHTS lets you tighten/loosen the light itself to turn it on/off. I like that a lot as it makes it quick and easy.

SPORT DOG has this itty bitty indented button that you press to get it to go on/off and it also functions as the button to make it flashing or solid. I have small hands and I still have the hardest time turning that thing on/off. I'm not a fan.

The best colors from brightest to dim IMO-

BLUE
GREEN
RED
TIE - WHITE & YELLOW
