Mr. Foster is an active member at the Tri-County CHA in Bowman, GA; the host club for the 2017 UKC World Championship Finals. Good guy, good judge, leads by example. Haven't hunted with Indy but they say she's nice. Consistent cast winner.

She a nice hound Allen. Phillip has to put more feed (dog good)in his first bucket tho. I think Red ate a good bit of it. Lol I've drawed Phillip before I knew we was going to have a good cast then.

Phillip is a good honest hunter and a pleasure for anyone to draw out with. More importantly, Phil is the type guy that one is honored to call him a friend, and he surely is that. Congrats to you my friend.

I've drawn Phillip four different times and he was hunting that little girl three of those times. She won two of the cast. They are both top shelf. I wish I could draw him at every hunt. He is a pleasure to hunt with.

This poses the question...... what makes a guy like Mr. Foster a pleasure to hunt with opposed to those who are not much of a pleasure?

Posted by Southern Coondog on 01-11-2017 03:04 PM:

Good question Allen.

Answer to your Question

I have never met Mr Foster but, I can make some assumptions. He has a smile and a good attitude. He hates to lose and wants to beat your eyes out but does not look for every loophole to try to sneak a win out. He knows the rules and how to enforce them with common sense . He shakes your hand at the end of the hunt whether you win or he wins. If none of this fits you then probably you are not a pleasure to hunt with.

Allen I believe the question is an easily answered one. Phillip treats everyone as he wishes to be treated himself. Don't take that to mean he is a push over, and easy to sway so you get a win. That is not true. He wants to win as badly as the next guy, but he will not cheat or bend the rules to get that win. He helps everyone shine and hunt their tree for a coon, and will do so if it means he gets beaten. Just a pleasure to be around. There is an old saying down here in the south that an apple will not fall for from the tree. That is true in Phil's case. Anyone who has ever met his father will see why. Mom and Dad did a great job in raising what has turned out to be a good man.

As you already mentioned, he is a member of the club we will visit for the finals of the world hunt this year. When we arrive there in September, I am sure that we will find that Phillip isn't the only great member of that club. It is a club that is full of good folks. It shows in the numbers they hunt at their events during the year. UKC and the finalist are in for a taste of southern hospitality at its best. The Bowmen club considers it an honor to be able to hold such a prestigious event, and I would bet all will see why.

On the nights I've hunted with him he was honest and didn't try bending the rules. That gains my respect.

Phillip Foster

I was fortunate to meet and know Phillip thru a mutual friend,Allen Gilstrap,Phillip is an outstanding coon hunter but also a good man.
Phillip hunted my farm both nights at the Grand American and won his cast being a class act. The thing which impresses me the most is He does his homework before the hunt. He hunts the hair off his dogs.
I also pleasure hunt with Phillip and there is no quit in him. I congratulate Phillip and everyone needs to look out for what he wins the next few years with his young English male which is out of Bindi !
