Breeding question

I have a black mouth cur that i missed on the last cycle and she didnt get breed. She started swelling a couple days ago and started bleeding today 11-15-16. What is the best day to attempt to breed her. The stud is coming to me and staying for one day. Thanks!!

Day 6 or 7

By no means Am I an expert but each female is different. We bred one on day 11 after 1st blood and missed her. The same female was bred to a stud that breeds a lot of gyps and he showed no interest in her until day 14 and she had 9 pups on one breeding. I would say when the bleeding slacks off go for it.

I have had night mares with breeding females. A lot depends on the stud. If he is an aggressive stud, he'll try to breed as soon as they stand or even earlier but if he is not, he will know when the time is right. I've had success from the 9th to the 17th day. Remember, your female only drops so many eggs to be fertilized a day. Breed too early and you will have a small litter, breed too late, you may have a small litter. I have always found that between the 11th and 13th day will produce good results. If I only had one day, it would be day 12. Good luck and keep us posted on the results.

If you only have one day, to do this without pinpointing ovulation through progesterone testing is a waste of travel and semen.
