Wisdom of the Founding Fathers

I will admit, it would sting a bit if the shoe was on the other foot, but given the election results you have to admire the foresight of our founding fathers.

29 states voted by majority popular vote for the Republican candidate. 2 states, Michigan and New Hampshire are still counting votes.

Yet Hillary will win the popular vote nationwide. Without the electoral college, states like Wy, Ks, Nd, Sd, etc, would never ever have a voice. Elections would basically be decided by 4 states because of the population. California, New York, Texas, and Florida. Florida is always split so The numbers from Ca, and NY would over ride Tx.


The majority of the people in the majority of the states you couldn't pay to live in Ca or Ny. Yet without the electoral college all the other states would be forced to live under their politics.

Now add this: Many of those who refuse, or are unable, to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens.

Nope. She's ahead and will only gain as the rest of the ballots are counted from heavily democrat and large population states.

I knew it would end up that way at the end of election night when Trump had won the election but was only slightly ahead at that time in the popular vote. Common sense says that even though they had called states like California, Oregon, and Washington, for Clinton, since they were on the west coast there was going to be a lot of ballots that were not yet in the final tally.

I bet Clinton wins the popular vote by between 1 and 2 million votes when it's all said and done. Doesn't look good but doesn't matter. Electoral college is what they both were going after and both knew that's all that mattered. This happened in 2000 with Bush/Gore, but the amount Gore won the popular vote by was much less. It's happened several times that way in history where the President elect who won the electoral college, did not win the popular vote.

All I know is, before Arizona and Michigan had counted their votes, it was already being put out there, Clinton won the popular vote. Maybe she did, but it would be nice to know, all the states had finished with their final tally's! I also heard he finished with 309 electoral votes.

The ONLY reason Billary won Popular vote.
By less than a million is what I seen.

I saw a post earlier today that showed that Trump had passed Hillary with the popular vote. This is why we have an electoral college, all the count. If it was only the popular vote then a few large cities would control the whole nation.

The Democrats win by big numbers in some big and/or densely populated states. Always do. Most of the key states Trump needed to win to gain Electoral College votes, he won by narrow margins in the popular vote. In some cases extremely narrow. Hard to gain popular vote numbers on Clinton when votes are close to 1 to 1 in those states.

One a side note, it isn't enough to see that Snopes says something is the truth. You have to look at their source. Often times their source is a liberal organization.

During the previous election I was curious about something Snopes #1 claimed to be true. I had seen a copy of a document that proved otherwise. It was a document the FBI provides regarding gun violence.

For this instance, Snopes listed their source. I went to that source #2 and that source listed Media Matters as its source. I then went to Media matters #3 and it listed source #2 as its source.

I laughed out loud, and showed my wife after she asked what was so funny. I replied isn't that convenient?

In today's world you can not take anything as a truth unless you can research it yourself.

Larry, when I spoke of Snopes having Hillary winning the popular vote, I was simply going with the most recent Google results (5 hours at the time).
