Garmin pro 70

I am looking at getting the Pro 70 to use for training around the house. The alpha is to bulky for this to me. I live on a larger piece of land so range is a concern for me. i have used the Tri Tronics sport basic for years and there have been several instances where i did not have the needed range. My question is what is the real world effective range on this system. I know terrain has a big effect on this. Where i live and land is flat, but the woods are very dense. They actually call it the Big Thicket. I am not interested in the Sportdog systems. Im sure they are good systems but i have used Garmin and Tri Tronics for years and like and trust them. Any help that can be offered on the effective range will be greatly appreciated, i don't want to get the trash breaker but i will if necessary. Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks Dave

Why don't you want the trash breaker?

.

The pro 70 should work for you but the pro trash breaker removes all the guess work. With a long antenna on handheld you can get up to 4 miles. Hundred buck difference but can make that up if you ever sell

The reason i did not really want to get the trash breaker is because of the antennae. A lot of the time i will let all the dogs run and play in my pastures since they have hog wire around the entire perimeter. I can let the dogs run without worry of them getting into trouble. The problem is i usually put the collars on the older dogs. Im worried about the younger dogs chewing on the antennaes of the collars on the older dogs. That is actually the only reason i did not want to go with the trash breaker. For all my training so to speak the trash breaker would be fine. Its basically when i let them exercise and play that i am worried about it. They are trained to come in to the tone is one of the reasons that i use collars on them when i let them in the pasture. They can be several hundred yards away in no time and the tone will bring them back to me quickly and the younger dogs generally follow them back. The other reason is i have a large population of deer on my place and its nice to be able to give them a tune up when needed. I appreciate your replies and sounds like i should probably go with the trash breaker, which i was kinda of thinking in back of my mind. Once again i appreciate the input.
