Possums
Whats everybodys method to breaking a dog off a possum. I never had my dog tree one til last couple weeks and hes treed 3.
Grinners
You will get a bunch of different methods on this question, break him of the track of one. If he won't track it he won't tree it. Jmo

As blue said ,dogs got treed last in persimmon tree first eye we saw was a possum my buddy started looking for switch and I said let's look the tree over and above that grinner was a coon.

Oh this is going to get good. Where is the guy that says shooting out the possum and beating them with it is the way to go? I know someone will write something like that on this post, and believe me they deserve a trophy.
Praise for coon, shock for possum. Repeat. Really isn't that tough.

don't do it
I've only been coon hunting a year but I made that mistake!! We shot out a grinner to a 8 month old 1 misty night we treed 6 before the night was over I was ready to quite. Get 1 in a trap and lay a drag let your dog loose soon as he smells it buzz him. Mine hasn't treed a opposum in about 5 months
