What do you all think this is giving up on vets
Dog starts losing hair and red spots develop dog goes off feed. Take her to vet she gets allergy shot next day it's worse and she can barely bark. I have some cephalexin so I try it and in 2 days she's better and after 10 days she's good.
1 week goes by here it comes again same with some streaking on her back like Barb wire scraped her but I'm sure it wasn't that. Give her a sulphate based antibiotic she gets good again.
2 weeks later here it comes again I try different vet he foes skin scrapes determines it's a fungal infection and says that's why the allergy shot made her worse the steroid fed the infection. Within an hour of giving her the new fungus med she is better even back on feed that night.
2 weeks after medication here it comes again I put her on cephalexin again but go 14 days on treatment . The Ada zone hunt was last 2 days of her medication she was feeling as good as ever and it stayed away until Friday nights State hunt. She won her cast but she wasn't right then on Saturday I noticed the red patches firming again on her right Flank and she didn't eat yesterday or today.
I have her back on cephalexin but this is not good need a cure not this continual problem any advice is appreciated. This is to nice a female to be jacking with like this went through 3 different vets now and the vet that determined it was a fungal infection wants to put her under and take skin samples to be sent off. He said this fungus can be spread to their lungs and feels like the time she got hoarse it had made it there. I'm not sure what direction to go.
What I want to know is why you took her to such a big hunt with medical problems!!!!! What about everybody else's hounds well being!!!
Lol
All 3 vets said it was not contagious since none of my other dogs had issues but just to be safe they had me giving her antibiotics through hunt for that reason. Thanks for the help Mr Rob
I am not trying to be a know it all just trying to help this old female I bought was eat plum up with staff and everything else I tried everything buddy told me and I did it and it worked get some sulfer and a small can of crisco shortening get out about 4 heaping tablespoons put in a bowl put it in the microwave and melt it put three table spoons of sulfer stir it good when it cools it will be a paste every day put some on the spots and make her eat a teaspoon full it will kill it from the inside out it works you would not know this old female now.
Buy a seresto flea and tick collar. I had one with the exact same symptoms. I had her to several vets with no luck, I had one tell me the same thing about fungal infection. Might just be a coincidence but since I put that seresto collar on her she has had a slick and shinny coat.

Yes it's Rainy sorry to hear about her sister heard she was very nice. I have got some good info over the phone on how to approach Rainys problem with some new vets and other things thanks for all the info from everyone
I'd be checking her dog house, kennel, bedding and anything else she comes in contact with. Good luck in finding a cure.
Tim - I just sent you a PM !

[/QUOTE my brother had one with red mange vets couldn't help he did the sulphur deal put it on her and gave it to her orally cured her in short order if you would have told them it took 300 dollars for that treatment they would have tried it but because it is so inexpensive no one thinks it will work.
I used motor oil years ago. But nothing works like this it won't happen over night but when it's gone it's gone.

Just regular sulfer I guess it's yellow lol. Might get the pure stuff from an agricultural store used to get it at a pharmacy but that was a long time ago.
Well how the hell are we spose to know exactly what to get ??? lol

Y'all dwiving me cwazy lol!! The brand name of mine is high yield vegetable dusting sulfer it's 90% sulfer and 10% inert ingredients. Hope that helps.
Similar problem years ago. Old timer told me how to cure it. It cured mine and never had issues again. I was told to give high doses(3cc) of Ivermectin every day (orally) for 3 weeks. My dog had no adverse issues with the treatment. It worked for me.
