Hunting w/Thermal Scopes and Camera's Pics

With all of this new technology these days it's wonder we even still use real dogs to hunt with anymore! But even I will admit sometimes it's hard not to get wrapped up in all the latest gear, gizmos and gadgets. This however is something that has been on my mind for a while now and I'm really wanting to try one of these things out. I really can see the need, practicality and usefulness of having a thermal imager especially during the summer months.

My question to you all is, those who have used them before.
1. How well do they work for coon hunting on a scale of 1-10?
2. Will they pick up a raccoons heat signature in the tree's with leaves on?
3. Do they work just as good or well enough to be usable in the summer heat?

Here is a little bit of what I've been looking at:

1. Flir One for smart phones. Around $250

2. Seek thermal xr for smart phones. Around $300

3.Armasight monocular and weapon sights. Range from $2,500-$30,000

Please free to comment on these or any others that you guys might have used before. I'm interested to know others opinions on the subject. Please no negative responses, we've heard them all before already.

Here is an ad from a hunting supply vendor that sells one for a smartphone. I would like to hear a little bit from these guys on this since they are selling it. Any input?

I have the Seek Thermo XR, not the smartphone version. Mine is about the size of a Garmin Alpha. And no, it's not what we are hoping for. Maybe some day....

I have one too Jim. I agree it is just about worthless. Luckily I can use it at work to find heat loss areas in boiler house processes. The Fleir smart phone one only works up close, and that according to the support group at the company. I have seen all the cheaper models and the are way off form what I thought they may be. Now while I have not used one to hunt with, while in the fire dept. business, we had one that cost some 40,000.00 and it was really great tool. I can't see me purchasing anything like that, and my lying dogs are probably glad I can't. They can still eat that way. lol
