Not a happy camper with Garmin my NEW Alpha has thrown CRA*&^%^ and the replacement did the same thing.
Was wondering if anyone has any information about the Quick Track OMNI GPS System.

Jon a glitch has shown up in the map unlock program on the ALPHA's. This, even though aggravating it's being addressed by Garmin and I am sure resolved soon. H.L. got is ALPHA from someone else but I consider him a Dear Friend and told him I would take care of him. I was hoping to lesson his frustration by doing it that way. That backfired on both of us as the new one I sent him also came down with that bug. He worked with someone from Garmin Thursday but their efforts did not resolve the problem which caused more frustration for H. L. As soon as the Power is back on in my store (Hopefully Monday) we are going to do what we can to resolve this problem. H. L. has been a good Friend and Customer for many years.

Did not read before posting

Bruce explained it MUCH better than I. With that said if it was not for Bruce I would be left out in the cold. The employees at Garmin can only do so much POLICY hampers their ability to do a lot of things they know they should do , POLICY states 10 to 14 days turn around on products nothing they can do. The person I talked to stated he understood my frustration BUT could do nothing POLICY. NOW that leads me to Conkey's As stated earlier there good honest dealers in this business BUT BRUCE and COREY has gone WAY overboard to help even to the point I feel like I'm imposing on him. Again THANKS BRUCE If it was not for you U. U know I would have thrown the Alpha in the trash can and never looked back FED up. Not rich BUT when enough is enough then move on.

H. L. my opinion and I will put it our here is the guy you got helping you at Garmin either missed something or during your guys conversation of what you should do, something was not done quite right. I have a plan for tomorrow and I will be calling you. I hope the electric is on at the store which will make things a lot easier.

Jon, I will say it's showing up in some of their newer software whether the unit is being updated by you or by them before shipping. My opinion and I may be wrong is there were updates made for the Drive Track. I think it came from there.

H. L. we will get this problem corrected and I am the one that decided to Sell Garmins and Handle Problems. Your just giving me the opportunity to follow my dreams. lol

This problem is extremely frustrating! Turned mine on again last night and it made me re calibrate everything again and maps locked! Only had my alpha a few weeks and it's the 2nd time!

If there is any way to do it, I would recommend installing an older software version to overwrite the newest version that was installed.
I never was keen on software updates as long as everything is working to my satisfaction!

What part of downloading was mentioned in my post. BRAND NEW out of box locked up first time I turned it on.( this was the second one )
If you look close Garmin fixed my Alpha using my computer thanks to Bruce.
They talked my wife through ONE of their programs which did not fix it, a supervisor took over our computer and they fixed it.
THANKS GARMIN JOB WELL DONE.
ALSO A BIG THANKS TO BRUCE CONKEY without him, which he had no reason to help, I would have had to send it in for at least a 14 day tun around after they received it.
With all this said GARMIN treated me FIRST CLASS.

So you went from fed up to a cheerleader!
I never said you downloaded any software, I was suggesting if it came to you with the newest version already installed, it may help to download an older version IF that was possible.
Glad you got it fixed though.

No need for us to get into a big issue over something as trivial as a Garmin.
Cheerleader well maybe I do believe a company ore a man should be judged by they way they handle adversity so yes they handled this issue the way I thank it should be handled so I if that makes me a cheerleader so be it . Have a good evening this discussion is over from here.

I do agree, but I was only trying to provide you with an alternative until a more permanent solution could be found. I don't know how much "closer I would look" at your problem being fixed (in this thread) when there was no mention of it being fixed prior to my suggestion. Maybe you have another thread I have not seen.
