Question?

How much do you believe what you read on here about dog?

Prolly way too much. For me it depends. If I know them then I know how much to believe, an if i dont i try not to believe any of it. Experience has drove me to think this way. Some people like to blow smoke more than others it dont make them bad people just got to know who you can take serious. Then after all that, always go hunting and find out for yourself!

I don't believe much that I read. Ive hunted with some of the stud dogs that have been advertised and I cant believe theyre breeding them. Not saying they cant tree a conn but there just not something I would want a kennel full of. Now Ive hunted with some that the owners words don't do them justice.

I don't

Believe very much iv herd so much smoke blowed about pups and hound's While trying to better the hounds in my kennel out of all the dogs and puppies iv bought iv got 3 A's pup's I really like one pup I got is out of Leon DARKSIDE one out of Damon Shivers stock and the other out of Russ Downing stock I believe these youngster's speak for the kennel and the hounds they are out of.iv lernt several valuable lessons here is a cuple never by a started dog are old dog on a man's word go hunting with it and find out the scoop your self and never make judgment on a dog in one night and never breed to a stud dog that has gotten to valuable to hunt if the owners of stud dog's won't show you what they have in the woods move on to hew will il add on more thing don't ever buy a pup because it's got a guarantee on it chances are it won't turn out and they will give you another pup just like the first one your not happy with and may even forget they even sold you a pup let's face it not many make top hounds you look at the reperduces list and you will find there is a very small percentage makes top hounds know matter the bloodlines are breed

I dont

Well said anyone who knows anything about hounds knows u can't judge one in one nite!!! Even the good ones have bad nites!!! Check references or take the time to hunt with the hound a few nites for sure!!! But u do need to b carefull a lot of smoke on this site from guys that don't even hunt!! Seems like some haven't even hunted at all more worried about making excuses why they can't!!! My boy bought a so called coondog from a man on this site claimed he could win any hunt out there!!! Well he flat lied and wouldent take the dog back it was an expensive lesson learned the hard way!! I'd like to say his name but he isent worth the time!!! And definetly shouldent b trying to promote a stud dog!!! If u need money that bad that u need to screw a kid over chances r u don't have anything worth breeding to!!!

To answer your question...

The best advice one can give is to hunt with the stud your breeding to,look at his faults ,his strengths, and Then also look at your gyps faults and strengths and see how they will accent the positive, eliminate negative and balance each other out. Hunt with the stud, hunt with his off spring do your homework and check to see what kind they are throwing and out of what females. It's like buying a car we all want to sell ya ours but truth be known what works for me may not work for you. So in closing do your homework take a stud guys word at face value nothing more nothing less. And last but certainly not least your chances of getting a good one based on reproduction history is at best 25% So all in all trust no one and see for yourself....

Sometimes the smoke can be intriguing and make ya wonder but hopefully most can see through it. Nobody knows more than me about what I like in a dog so I try to form my own opinion. I am always surprised to see how many of our opinions differ, I thought we all were looking for a coondog, hell maybe we all are but many either except less or the definition of coondog is to each their own.

A wise man told me " Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see".

A lot of peoples views on hounds vary and the phrase "coon dog" is used way to loosely. I will not blow smoke up anyone's butt to make my dogs look good. I'm probably to hard on mine because I have seen some outstanding hounds in my short span of hunting. It's always a chance if a pup or started dog is going to suit your style of hound.
