Camping World warning

Just wanted to let anyone interested, to stay clear of Camping World in Richmond Indiana. We saw a camper that we liked while we were at Autumn Oaks. They slid hidden fees in without us realizing it. (Guess country folks are too trusting). They gave a $1,000 finance discount because they said that the bank would give that to get the loan, even though we wanted to pay cash. They wanted to sign us up to the Good Sam Camping Club with all the benefits. They wouldn't hardly let us insure it ourselves, as they just knew they could get it cheaper. Haven't got a loan book yet even though the first payment is due. We have made several calls to Camping World and when the lady answers, she says she will transfer our call, but it goes to voicemail and no one every returns the call. What should have been a pleasant experience, turned into a nightmare. Nice camper, but get a sour feeling every time we look at it. Has anyone else had any dealings with them?

My take

Enjoy your camper. It has nothing to do with the F & I.

Pay it off in cash ASAP to avoid interest charges. You should have a copy of your financing paperwork. Contact the bank that financed it.

The idea that the bank will give 1,000 to finance it is a crock of bull. That said, banks will give kick-backs to dealers for jacking up the interest rates. You probably have a jacked up interest rate. This is how the F & I guys make their money (jacked up interest rates and insurance sales).

Recently bought camper myself. Paid cash. Got discount (not because of paying cash, but because of no trade-in --- dealers actually prefer to finance you---finance dollars to them). And, got my own insurance.

If what I've written isn't clear enough, feel free to PM me with contact info. I'm willing to help. I know their game well.

Not sure about ur $1,000, but when we bought my Silverado, the salesman told us the same thing. We financed thru Ally got the $1,000 off pd it off in full before the first payment was due and got another $33 back for early payment. CASINO $$

Sure, but it ended up being such a hassle jumping through those hoops. Kept us in the office for over an hour trying to sell us the bells and whistles and had to basically threaten to leave before they let up.

I am not saying to not deal with them, but beware that they will try to slide packages in without you realizing it. Be prepared to spend the day, as they are trained to work you just to the breaking point.

A little hard side popup that looks like the Aliner. Don't need a 'camper', just a sleeper.

never dealt with camping world personally but when I bought my horse trailer with living quarters it came with a emergency assistance policy. the only place they specified that I couldn't take it to get worked on was Camping World. Makes you wonder why
