Hillbilly Mac Blood coming to English Breed!!!
This is a comment from Mark Ketcherside...
My buddy Mike Shannon called today and we talked about making a x breed cross, Mike has some of the best Walker blood in the breed in my opinion, I have owned and hunted the Hillbilly Mac dogs for several years, and can tell you it's a great Walker breed. Mike has done a lot of work line breeding some of the best blood available today. Red is a coondog second to none and I'm very proud and blessed to own this caliber of hound, he has some of the old blood that I've also hunted for many year, Michigan Swamp Rooster, Rolling Rock, Wolfe Creek Diesel Coon Crazy Daisy, Bluegrass Amos, and Little Grizzly. Mike and myself wants to throw this out there and see what comes out of it. Thanks for reading!

When I was younger I hunted several dogs directly out of hillbilly mac. My dad worked with Rabie Smith's (mac's owner) son-in-law. We were fortunate enough to raise a few pups for him. They were some smart pups.... Best of luck on your cross

I've always made crosses within the 3 originating breeds and thats my preference. I make PR bred english crosses too but if i seen something I thought might work I will not hesitate to breed to a Walker or Bluetick. Not saying my way is the way just that it is how I like to breed. It is undeniable that the influence of such crosses have had a positive effect on the English breed. I was sickened last year when they did away with single registration of a dog meeting breed standards, with 3 generations of known ancestors and that would already tree a coon by itself into the English breed. Now if you make such a cross you will have to decide which breed you want to pursue in future breedings and follow that path for 3 generations in order for the ending pups to be registered as anything other than X-Bred. Just my thoughts on it. Hope your pups turn out good Mike and Mark. Perry tell Mr. Jim hello for me.
