Performance Points

Since everyone is on here what do you Think UKC could do to improve it. I believe they should have a big Money hunt at the end of the year. Top 64 dogs in points. You take 5$ from every point earned save it till the end and hunt for it. Or you could go with points any dog over 2 points is qualified pay hundred bucks to enter.

Too many hunts now. Reduce the hunts and that would change some things. We have 5 kennel clubs all trying to get the same circle of people to attend. Too many hunts

Yea I've hunted in Super Slams but some guys don't have that kind of cash. That's the thing you need to do stuff for people who don't have the kind of cash flow to drop 250$

When I look at the PRP program, I guess I look at how it has worked out for me personally and as much as I have supported this program as is, the fact is almost all my dogs wins over the last 5 years have been in UKC events that don't pay points. Slams, Youth Hunts, RQE's etc. I've had pups that made NtCh without earning a point. Granded with only two wins that paid. So the program isn't paying my dogs. And it is no longer important to me.

let me ask this Jim if they made a performance championship with plenty of money. Would you make an effort to win points to get qualified

No. Your basic 10 dog UKC hunt isn't worth my 20 dollars. It's a chore you slog your way through for the UKC titles which, for some strange reason, still means a whole lot to me.

Performance point should b attained in all compitition levels not just certain ones....
99.9 ℅ (JMO) of dogs entered in nite hunts now adays r P.P. dogs
yet all hunts do not earn the owner/breeder/dog performance points $.
Either include the dam and/or open up all compitition hunts to the P.P !

Allen's insight

I would really like to hear from Allen on what he thinks can be done to improve the program. It's already a great program I would love to see it grow and compete with the programs the other KC!s have.

I have said for a few years now UKC needs to come up with a plan to get these Grand Nites back at the local level. Even if there were only 3 to 6 of them showing up at a hunt I would gladly show up with mine if I knew there was a incentive to show up. 15 to 20 dollars to compete with my dogs is well worth it to me.

Maybe UKC can find someone like Black Gold or Purina to donate say 500 dollars to the top 3 to 5 dogs across the country. I know that seems like a lot but just throwing some suggestions out there.

The last few dogs I have granded have been under 2 years old, and it kinda stinks not being able to compete with them at the local level any longer.

I suggested to Allen that if we would take 5$ a point and put it towards a hunt at the end of the year and then in order to be qualified you need to have five cast wins or 7 I don't care but that would put the Grands back in the local clubs especially with a 15-20 thousand $ hunt at the end of the year. Guys from other KC's will be trying to get qualified. Plus it help make sure guys pay up performance. It also brings in some more dogs for the local clubs.

I say have a state race. Then the top X amount of dogs get the cash. This would bring back the GRNT dogs. However they may have to revamp the hunts. Maybe all the dogs hunt against each other. Ever other registry does it. X amount of cast wins with plus points makes a NTCH and another X amount makes GRNT

Very good idea to.
