How many time this happen to you

How man times have you treed a Opposum and a coon in the same tree? I have hunted for 37 years and done this twice and both times was with the same dog. Now the Tucker dog does it 2 times in the same night???????????

Posted by fullhouse on 09-25-2016 12:27 AM:

Not only same night but 2 times in a night where the whole cast can see the possum but not the supposed coon. Pretty Sh...ty to go out that way.

I will be 60 next month and have hunted and had coonhounds since I was big enough to follow along. Only one time in my life!

I have seen it several times possum/coon squirrel/coon.

With my

Mediocre hounds I have seen it twice in consecutive nights. Maybe the other cast members didn't want to see the coon after they seen the possum, ever thought about that? Looks like the other hounds could have done better anyways. Just by looking at the scores. The walker hound is on top again.

I've saw it only once. Was 3 coon a possum and 2 squirrels running all over that tree. Was a whiteout tree. Leaves were about gone. Acorns were thin. Don't trust me though. I or my buddy shot a coon/possum out to my young dog one night. Dog already had possum problems. That thing was 40 foot up a whiteoak. I never really looked at its body because it was so high. Plus leaves were on. Talk about a sinking feeling lol.

since 59

have hunted since 59 and seen it many times. very common when you tree a coon in a persimmon tree.LOL-- there are usually more than one possum. one memorable night in the 80's we treed in a small cedar tree. from a distance it looked like a Christmas tree.. had a female my cousin called Daisy she was a possum treeing fool.. well there were 2 possums and 5 coon in that tree.Hard to believe so he shot out one coon and we skinned it --plum full of cedar berries. those coon were all about 8 lbs if the size of that one was what the others were like.

when he sold Daisy the number of possum trees went way down but she treed many with one of each.. the man that got her only seen 2 more of the possums with her.. she was 1/2 Bluetick- 1/2 walker. her mother never treed a possum and was very good at lay up coon . the sire was Blue and never did tree a possum either.

Only thing a persimmon tree is good for is cutting seeds in half to see what kinda winter we gonna have.

Im not worried about a coon and possum being in same tree twice in one night nearly as much as that not only it supposedly happened but also 3 out of the 5 people couldnt see a coon just the possum. Shady as hell period.

I seen a possum a coon and groundhog all in a persimmon tree Tuesday night

you make a good point but what about the impartial non hunting guide that every handler said it was ok to shine the trees not seeing it?

Posted by GA DAWG on 09-25-2016 02:02 AM:

One things for sure. The possums will probably be stirring tonight to. If they are we may have a repeat from last yr.
