Another Rule Question
Ok here is the question: handler calls wrong dog and is warned, but same handler has a backup handler that takes over after first handler was warned and 2nd handler calls wrong dog. Is the dog scratched or do you warn the 2nd handler and let the dog keep hunting? I know what Rule 6 (k) says, but it doesn't seem to cover this question with a backup handler.
Just curious how this would play out...My thoughts are the warning stays with the hound and not the handler, but I could be wrong.

The way that rule is written, it says "on second offense if HANDLER calls another handler's dog". The warning is never for the hound because it's a handler-related offense.
Is the back-up handler in the woods with the cast and should they know what the dog sounds like? Probably. I don't necessarily agree with this but the way it's written I would say the back up handler would get a warning as well because you are talking two different handlers at that point.

I would think dog is scratched. I don't think changing handlers would reset the warning.

That's the way I think it *should* be but the way the rule is written for the handler makes me think that if you have 2 handlers that might be one warning for each.

First offense is minus not a warning! Second is scratch it's not like fouls in basketball if you don't know the dog don't hunt it.
Refuse call
Isn't there a rule that says the judge has the right to refuse a call? I usually give one warning when I judge then minus them. I feel like scratching a guy for other than fighting and off game is an easy way out for the win.

Just follow the rules as written. Like Stevens said, first offense is covered by 4(n), award points called and minus. Second offense is covered by 6(k), scratch the handler. Going to a backup handler changes nothing.
These rules are plain and simple, not sure how they could be misunderstood. No warnings and how the judge feels about scratching doesn't matter. If he can't bring himself to do what the rule says, he should hand off the card.

I better understand it now and the first offense if a handler calls the wrong dog, the Judge will award points called and minus them. Now if a backup handler is used it does not matter because the first offense has already been done and so the dog would be scratched!
Good to know, thanks guys!
