Redbones

There seems to be a new Redbone Revolution going on. Jared and I set up and sold quite a few pups this weekend at AO. I could not believe all of the "new" Redbone people that bought them. Why are all of the other breed people wanting to try out a Redbone now? I couldn't believe all of the first time people that stopped to ask questions and talk about Redbones. Most of them commented or had a story to tell about a Redbone that they had drawn out with in a hunt. It is amazing to me the number of people that know who Boone is just from stories from friends that have hunted with/against him. It seems to me that the best publicity/advertising comes from just hunting a dog and letting his/her actions speak for them. A well known man in a BBCHA shirt came over to tell me all about his Rocker X Sheba pup and how well it was doing. Maybe Redbones as a breed are getting better.

Missed seeing you my friend...People looking something different is not a fad but a hope..I have hoped with you a couple times and I have the faith all will work out.

a friend came home from oaks and said he bought a redbone pup from a guy named Richard Lambert.
Said he bought it soley on his first impression of Mr. Lambert was that he was an honest man.
I said I believed he was right.

"A Great Time at Autumn Oaks"

It was hard to believe the amount of people that rolled through Richard and I's booth this weekend. Richard, Pastor Mike and I defiantly kept busy this weekend talking to a lot of people. It was pretty much a constant flow of adults and children wanting to see or talk about Redbones. We sold several puppies (actually more than what I expected) there this weekend. I had to leave early on Saturday and I think we could have sold a few more if I would have stayed a few more hours. Thanks to all the people that purchased pups.

To me it wasn't about selling pups, but to build relationships with several people I would have never been in contact with. I had several people walk up and tell me there "Redbone Story", about how redbones may have been there first hound, how they have never owned one but always wanted to, or how they have raised them all of there lives. I loved to just listen to the stories people wanted to share. It was really cool to see people look at and study the pedigree's of some of these pups we had listed to sell and tell me how they hunted with or use to own something that had TTop, Fireball, Moonlight, Outlaw, Hoffmiester, Ragged Ridge and so on in this dog or that dog. I guess I'm trying to say is I truly believe that there is some kind of a revolution going on and I think the future is bright if we can stay on track on what a lot of us are trying to promote and do in this breed.

I didn't really get a chance to walk around Autumn Oaks, but had several people tell me that we were one of the only ones there trying to reach out and promote are breed person to person. I looked up and down the strip of road we were on and saw several English Breeders, Walker Breeders, Black and Tans breeders and yes even a couple of Cur dog guys. All I do know is that we had one of busiest booths on the strip we were on. So whatever we are doing as a breed to get some of this attention, I guess we should just keep doing it.

I didn't hunt this weekend, but did go with and Richard and Boone on there hunt Saturday Night. Boone come up short but had two splits that night one we found a coon and another we didn't. I wish we could have found both cause it would have been a good cast win for Boone and Richard. I just love seeing the old dog work including Boone . He's not quite as fast as he use to be when he was hunted up good but can still get it done when he has to. It was neat to hear the other dogs running a track and then all of a sudden in another part of the woods you hear those big ol locates then a steady chop off in the distance. I leaned to over to Richard and said "there's a layup and he's gonna have that one" sure enough we walked over and found ol Ricky sprawled out high on limp taking a nap. The coon never even opened his eyes and looked. Oh well it was still fun. The cast was great to be with. I had a great time being the taxi driver for Mike Laster and Richard.

Darrin, I wondered why everyone wanted to talk to Jared. Elvis, I hope that you will help Karhli get that pup going. I think that pup sold himself, I didn't have much to do with it. John, I didn't get to walk around very much and I couldn't find your booth/set-up. Sorry that I missed you.

I had to keep supplying Richard with pens, his ink kept running out from all the autographs. You would not believe where some of the people wanted him to sign his name .
