Finally!!!!!

After 4 years, I finally found my .22 ammo of choice! Yep, I ordered 4 boxes of CCI Small Game Bullets or SGBs. In my opinion, there is no better fur and meat friendly bullet period.

I am psyched ... no more shooting coon or squirrels with crappy subpar .22 ammo.

the c.b. shorts are sure handy when stealth is needed to knock a well deserved coon out to your young pup no matter the time of year .lol also gets them use to the gun without the threat of making them gun shy .

Pffffftttttt!

CCI are the Cadillac of .22 ammo. Consistent, accurate, reliable, and most of all, CLEAN SHOOTING.

Remington and most others, shoot 100 rounds, and clean the barrel and action, and look at the black crud.

Shoot 1,000 CCI and clean the gun, and barely find a tinge of grey.

To each his own. Just my 2 cents.

Yep. I have 1500 rounds of different kinds that will probably never get shot as long as I can keep getting my CCI of choice. Been shooting it for years.

I like the CCI but have noticed that they don't shoot well in a cricket. My favorite are the subsonic rounds, I have them from CCI as well as Remington. They punch hard and pretty much push the coon out, works great when they're hiding in a fork.

The sub-sonic (at least in the CCI HP) are some hard hitting son of a guns at typical ranges shooting coon out. Something about the design and just enough speed makes them like a 10lb sledge hammer.

That's why I use them, gets them stubborn coon out of the forks of trees. Nothing worse than shooting the coon and having it die in the fork and not fall out.

Ammo

Thanks for the tip Larry spent some money there today myself.

If you ask a competitive Sporter rifle guy what ammo is his choice. 9/10 it all be CCI. I shot competition .22's in high school. Shot thousands of rounds threw my gun of all different brands. And I can say you don't get the radical flyers with CCI that you do with the others. They will punch holes that touch consistently.

Posted by lucas foster on 09-10-2016 02:36 PM:

CCI

CCI is all I shoot . different brands shoot differently threw different guns but for me CCI has been most consistent. I shoot standard velocity round. Way more accurate then that high velocity crap everybody sells.more than enough power to punch through the dome of an old boar but accurate enough for head shots on squirrels. And the standards don't sound like a cannon goin off.

CCI standard velocity will group with the best ammo out there, one hole 3 shot groups at 25 yards with a good rifle is not uncommon

Completely agree sleepy. Got a ol Mossberg 22 my grandads rifle from the 40's I think n a savage I bought bout 10 years ago and they both shoot tack drivin groups with the CCI standards and shoot the cb 's pretty well also.

I hunt with a pistol and never really cared what I shot out of it, but its too loud for pups. I bought a Gamo wisper fusion pellet gun. Very quite and I can roll them out with it.

I like the CCI Mini-Mag copper plated solids. Like all CCI's I've shot, they're accurate, but you can blast through small trash in front of a coon or squirrel and still hit your target. They will also take off a small branch a coon or squirrel hangs up on like you sliced through it with a sharp machete.

Problem is I hunt a lot of ridges with houses outside the woods edge within sight. I don't trust where that bullet is gonna end up if it gets through the tree tops.

For that reason I shoot the sub sonics. Only disadvantage is they will not tolerate even a slight twig in front of the target. You need a clear path all the way in. But beyond that coon or squirrel you will hear it THUMP when it hits. Slow, quiet, but hits really hard. You don't realize how quiet until somebody is along and cracks one out with a high power 22 bullet . And still CCI deadly accurate. 1/4-1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 30 yards.

I will say the blazers are about the same as cci. Only 2 out there the old marlin 22 will shoot haha. Jammamatic.

The reason I like the SGBs is some of our coon grow pretty big. I like a coon to hit the ground dead. I have been hunting a long time, and the only thing that works better is my .22 mag pistol. Now you want to talk about loud ... it is just a little louder than those SGBs.lol

I can't use hollow points they cause too much fur damage.

Would hate to ruin 1$ pelts. Lol I'm a CCI guy but I really like Subsonic it just gets them to move when you need them to.
