Any Computer Geeks Out There ?

I have been off my computer for a few days. Tried to get into my email today, & I get a box telling me that I have to type in my email address, then "for security purposes", it wants to send me a code that I have to type in the box (??!!). But in order to get the code, they send it to my email - which I can't access... OR, I can give them my cell number for them to text me - but I don't have a cell phone. So it then asks for my other phone number (and it gives me the last 2 digits of my number), and says that if that is the correct phone number that they show in their account, they will send me this "security code", which will allow me to access my email.

Nothing works !!! Does anyone know what is going on here ? Last night, they were supposed to have changed my operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I thought that may have screwed things up, but it looks like my system was not changed to W10 after all.

I think you should be able to call you internet provider and talk to them about it. You'll have to go through the gauntlet of prompting to finally get to a person.
I've been though this a few times. It's aggravating for sure.

Well, I have an interesting update. The Microsoft people were apparently the ones who put my email account on a "HOLD", which is why I was unable to access it for the previous several days.

Since then, they managed to put Windows 10 on my system, and it loaded correctly this time. When I tried to access my email, I finally received the necessary "code" from Microsoft - via my home phone, and when I typed in their "code" to UNblock my email - it worked !!!

Apparently, their system detected someone else trying to "steal" my name, email address, and password, so Microsoft blocked ALL attempts at accessing my email - including mine.

I am much relieved...and would like to say "Thank you" to those who responded to my help request.
