paranoid much?
2 weeks ago I lost my female in the Nimrod WMA. I recently posted a few lost dog ads on the internet. I was laid off my job about a month ago and have plenty of free time. I'm in Nimrod WMA day and night if I'm awake I'm usually there. I've become familiar with the trucks that are there on a regular basis especially the few I see at night with dog boxes. Since I posted on the internet I've seen about 6-7 trucks with dog boxes every night. Before I posted the lost dog ads I would see a few a week and knew most of them. My female's not famous by any means but there are quite a few that are aware of what she's reproducing. All these trucks with dog boxes I've never seen before made me wonder if people were looking for Barbie.. I discussed it with a couple of friends who were in there with me last night fishing after the fourth unfamiliar truck went by and they said they couldn't think of any other reason why the traffic with dog boxes would explode like that either. I told them I felt bad for assuming the worst about people. Tonight I hunted my pup down the road from there first but swung through there and made a quick drop on my way home. I was in there about 30 minutes and saw four unfimiliar trucks with dog boxes , two with out of state tags. WTF? As the fourth one was going around and I was loading my pup ( smelling like skunk by the way ) I waved at the driver and motioned for him to hold up. I had to know why a place that I'm usually hunting alone had become so popular in a week. The very nice man told me he was looking for good spots to hunt. Our state hunt is this coming weekend about 8 miles from Nimrod. I had no idea lol .I told him the story and we shared a good laugh. Anyone who needs a guide for the hunt holler at me especially if you've got a romper stomper I'd like to see them go . Like I said I'm in there night and day and have walked or I should say waded all of it in the last 2 weeks looking for my dog. So FYI everyone I'd avoid everything between duck pond rd and Sunlight bay or you'll likely have problems with deep water. If anyone on the hunt sees my dog please call me. http://s1030.photobucket.com/user/t...?sort=3&o=0

good luck finding your female.I heard they got gators in nimrod. not saying one got her but I wouldn't want to be in there till cold weather.lots of cotton mouths too.had one get snake bit and found him 9 days latter when he was well enough to make it back to where I dumped him.every time we coonhunters turn a dog loose its a risk we have to live with.ive had 3 vanish off the face of the earth and it was hard to take.when I lost duke after having him 10 years I quit hunting for 2.nothing worse than loosing one.hope you find her soon.
Thanks I lost one for a month in there and found her my buddy lost one close to 3 months and got him back so I'm holding on to hope.
What's a Cotton mouth? Lol I killed 3 yesterday. I've never seen a gator in there but I know a old man who caught one very near there a couple years ago so its very possible.

When you loose a dog and look and look you get to where every time you turn a corner you're half expecting to see it on the road. It takes a long time for that to go away. I lost one for a few days and was combing an area of woods thinking she got hung in an old fence or something. Later a watchman at a boat yard called and told me she was living under the gangway on a floating dock. She was no where near where I was looking. I was told by an old deer dog man that that is the way it always is.
Did your dog have a tracking collar?

She had a garmin and regular collar on. Of course garmin battery is long dead. I wasn't gonna search for her today but headed down here as soon as I woke up llol. I gave an FYI in my original post about hunting between duck pond rd and Sunlight bay. The water has went down a lot so anyone hunting in the state hunt you might be able to hunt in there by this weekend. Be careful there are still deep spots.
P.s. don't forget bug spray or you'll be sorry mosquitoes are eating me alive day and night unless I spray
