Shine Time

I sure wish UKC would shorten to the shine time to 5mins

I wish they'd change the squalling rule.

yes that is a great rule to change imo. Their shouldn't be a time frame set to squal

The UKC as such does not change the hunt rules. The breed representatives from the 7 coonhound breeds do. I believe there will be rule change meetings at Autumn Oaks this year. Call your breed reps. they are the ones that vote for the changes.

because to much time is being used up in these hunts to shine trees. Especially in the summer time with leaves on. People wanna spend the full 10 mins shining. Allow everyone to use Squaller when shine time starts and 5 mins is long enough to shine a tree

Shine time is to long I agree. 8 minutes is long enough. What I would love to see change is squalling rule. Not to be able you can do to score your dogs tree while you are there is crazy. Most coons gonna look as soon as you squall but after 7 min of a light in tree they usually buried down if they not looking.

I guess it's not fair to the other dogs in the area. Bernie may need to discuss how to make it fair to the dog that either can't get on the tree in 5 or such a sorry track dog that it's hanging out in the area.

What other time would be more acceptable to use the full shine time then in the summer with leaves on? If you're gonna say shine time is too long then don't use summer as an example of when, just sayin. Lol

5 mins max and we should be able to squall when shine time starts

Where I hunt you may use 5 minutes just trying to find a spot to see the tree and then only see a small part of the tree. Not everyone has open woods to hunt in.

8 minutes to shine and squalling right away is what I think.

Here too!

Shine for 3 minutes if you don't find coon circle it. Shine for 8 minutes if you don't find coon minuse it blow the guts out of your squaller the whole time !!

Posted by Jeff Prince on 05-11-2016 11:44 PM:

Robert how many doughnuts you had today?
Me and my buddy treed a coon two nights ago. I don't mean with dogs I mean we chased it up the tree our selves. Both of us have top of line lights and blew squallers for about 15 minutes and never found the coon.
I argued with someone on here before who said if it was there he could find if. Invitation is still open . Lots of trees here you'll only be able to see part of in the summer.

Jeff ain't had no donuts. Been out at lake with 250 6th graders at environmental camp one more day to go I don't know how many hooks I have baited and lines I have untangled lol. But usually when I find a coon it's within the first 5 minutes if I look any longer every thing up there looks like a coon lol.

For Yadkintar one dozen 🍩s.I bet that camp is a blast. You've earned a few though.lol

Yes some of those kids just need someone to spend just some extra time with them that's what some of us men are there for they are really easy to spot if there is food left we send it home with them the fishing just helps us break the ice with them sorry I went off topic Jeff. One more thing and I will get off my soap box some of those kids stayed in the chow hall way after the others was done eating some of them had 3 plates of food in front of them more than they could eat maybe it felt good to have all they wanted it's heartbreaking I can't help but worry about them not good for them at home. Sorry guys.

I AM ALL FOR THIS.

This would be an awesome rule. Maybe it's just been me but I have been on more cast than I can count and I only recall a few when the coon was found last part of shine time. I can think of a bunch found in first couple minutes.

Squall the whole shine time is my vote. If my dog pulls to a squaller I shouldnt be hunting him in the hunt anyhow.

Posted by GA DAWG on 05-12-2016 01:34 AM:

I get very bored after about 3 min of shining. Thats just pleasure hunting with my super accurate dog. I sure hate shining 10 min on a babbling slick treeing idiot.
