Smile Finally Got a Redbone Puppy

I thought I would post a couple pictures of my new Redbone pup! My husband and I have Leopard Hounds and Blueticks, but I have always wanted a Redbone since I was little, and swore I would own one some day. Well, that day came this past Saturday. My husband and I went to the RQE bench show at Elletsville, IN with our two Leopard Hounds and while there we began talking with some guys that owned Redbones. I mentioned that I had seen a classified post on here stating that Jack Camden had some puppies available in Marco, IN, which wasn't too far from Elletsville. Everyone at the show had only positive things to say about Jack and his dogs so we decided to go check them out...and we brought home this cutie.

Jack Camden was so interesting to talk to and very nice. I think we spent two hours talking about hounds! We might just have to make a trip down to run dogs with him in the future, especially so he can see how this guy turns out. I am hoping to at least pleasure hunt with this guy, possibly competition hunt, and possibly show him on the bench.

I can't decide on a name for him though. I would like something unique or creative. So far we've not come up with anything we definitely like.

His Sire is NITECH CH 'PR' Lucas's Razor's Edge.
(Son of GRNITECH GRCH AKC NITE CH CH 'PR' Key's Outlaw Razor Red)
His Dam is 'PR' Sassafras Queen.

I thought about doing a name off of the Razor theme. Or we have a random theme going with our two Leopard puppies of chainsaw brands, Stihl & Solo. TBK's Timber Choppin' Stihl & TBK's Tree Toppin' Solo. I thought about doing another chainsaw brand for his name. If anyone has any ideas feel free to shout them out.

Congrats on getting your Redbone puppy. I'm not very good at naming them....I named 7 that we sold and only one person kept the name I called her and that was Screaming Mimi. But I almost named one Remington and it is a brand of chainsaw so that's my suggestion. Hope u enjoy cuddling him as much as I do our Dandy.

Megan

I think this little red pup is the perfect excuse to use the brand name "Jonsered", don't you think?

Good luck with your puppy!

I own the Sire: Razors Edge, he is all coondog

Edge is in my top 5 of all time and I've been huntin since 14 years old
Bawl mouth, bawl locate and chop tree
If he opens he will get treed, and he will stay
He will split and hold pressure

Call me if you want more background information on Edge

Your right, Jack Camden is a real redbone encyclopedia and a very nice man

Chris

Mr. Williams

Doesn't Mr. Camden run a Blakesley line of dogs? And Mr. Williams, didn't you yourself have some Blakesley bred hounds, at least a little ways back? Though I guess your Edge dog is not one of those, right?

I'd be interested in pictures of the parents. Maybe see the pedigrees of them, too, if it's not too much trouble.

Thanks. And that really is a fine looking pup, which is why I ask.

Again, have fun with that little guy.

Regards,

Tom

Thanks everyone! We sure love him. Chris I just might have to take you up on that offer, it's always nice to know as much as you can. As far as his name goes... We've been calling him Daniel, and we ended up getting a female out of a litter I was on a wait list for, and we've been calling her Anna, as cliche as that is. I'm not even sure those names will stick...but the reason I've always wanted a redbone was because of the Where the Red Fern Grows movie so that's my inspiration for now since nothing creative that I came up with seemed to fit. I kind of decided against the chain saw brand theme...I think I might leave that to my Leopards. I have to admit the Jonsered name is pretty clever and on point. 😉🤗😂 Has anyone seen the silly "**** (Dam) Daniel" videos online? I've considered trying to register him as "TBK's Dam Daniel"...Think I could get away with that without the N on the end of the Dam? Corey what do you think? Lol. And then when I got the female a friend said "well one more won't hurt"... So I'm considering naming the female "TBK's Ann One More Won't Hurt" or "TBK's Annother Won't Hurt"... Are those too dumb? Will anyone even get it? I figure if their call names are so unoriginal the registered names atleast need to be unique. But I don't want them too stupid lol. Also, does everyone normally put their own kennel name on the puppies that you buy instead of the breeder's kennel name? So far with our coonhound puppies the breeders either haven't cared if we do or haven't even told us what their kennel name even is, let alone asked us to put it on the pup, but in my experience with other breeds putting the breeder's kennel name on the pup was the norm or was required. I talked with the breeder of our female and they insisted that they didn't care and it was truly up to us whether or not we out their name of the dog. If we don't are we being disrespectful? If we do are we being weird when other people don't usually? Is their a political advantage at shows if the pup is from a well known/successful breeder to putting their kennel name on? The other part is that the kennel name in this case (Stone Nickel) is somewhat long where as our prefix (TBK's) would allow us to have a longer name. Opinions? Advice?

Here's a picture of the little miss. She's ridiculously adorable but much more calm than our male. Hopefully she'll get a little more attitude as she gets older.

Daniel thinks he runs the show. He's already caught on to what it means to be in the McDonald's drive thru. He smells the food and keeping him out of it is about impossible. He's been going to work with me and he thinks he's quite the hotshot. This is him perked up for McDonald's haha.

By the way... I am now at full capacity for Redbones lol. Hopefully these two turn out and I will be set of the next several years. I was only planning on a male but I figured he'd feel weird if he was the only red one in the family 😂😉😁.
