Mr Jackson----

Not to high-jack anyone's post, Just want you to know that I did get the pleasure to hunt with a few of the Winners over the years.

Outlaw Pearl --- Mike Wright
Lucy---Bo Parker
Red Zack ---Rob Farr
Ralph---Terry Hayes
Sandy Creek Jake---Nick ?
Rambo---Roger Colwall
Rat---Tom Solberg and Dave
Spook---Tom Solberg and Dave
Wrighter VII---Terry Finder

I can say that there where a couple I would have loved to have my collar on.
But then I judge a hound on things that are important to me, voice-looks and handling. And I can guess that you have in your State hounds that are just as good and maybe better for the way you hunt then most of the ones I listed. The things I didn't like of some mentioned was one had a very poor voice, one way to much white and one was to independ to enjoy pleasure hunt.

One old houndman told me. Never overlook those in your backyard

I've hunted with a few myself just nothing that meets the criteria of others I guess. I've had the pleasure of hunting with I believe 5 out of Rat x Raven including Rabble and one out of Rat and a different female. All were dogs that I liked. Never got to hunt with or see Jake but I have a daughter of his that I really like. Hunted with Spook's dad more nights than I could even begin to count over the years. The rest on that list I am not very familiar with. I'm kind of picky when it comes to what I'll feed. I like a loud dog on track and tree. No chop mouth track dogs. Accurate, all night tree dogs that don't take all night to get treed (track speed). Good build and disposition. Hunt deep enough to find a coon in thin coon. A bit of white wouldn't bother me but none that I mentioned or own have any white. I don't mind an independent dog but I don't want a dog that is jealous and flat won't hunt with other dogs. I sent two of mine to a buddy in Kentucky a week ago. They were stuck in a crate in a haulers van for 9 days before they got there and a bit out of shape but he turns them loose and they go get treed. So far he is liking them. He'll put them in some hunts but they won't be pushed like the "big winners" because I don't have real deep pockets. I enjoy the dogs I hunt and that's what matters in the end. Thanks for the input. I'm sure it was enjoyable to hunt with those dogs.

Got to thinking about it and I guess I've drawn a few of those winners in the hunts. Not the same dogs as on the other thread but dogs that are known. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but these come to mind. Hopefully I get to hunt with more of the better known dogs in the breed before I'm done.

Moonlight Kate
Moonlight Bo
Redhot Clyde
Rabble
Aftershock
Boo Boo
Moonlight T
Turkey
Steve-O

You would have then loved---

Wrighter VII--big bawl mouth and fast on track.
Rambo--LOUD and an outstanding tree hound, but you better have a comfortable pair of boots on because if the pack was going North, he was heading South!!
Lucy---beautiful mouth and a picture of a tree hound
Ralph---well balanced and very easy to handle
Zack---heck of a tree hound
Jake---I liked his litter mate brother better, looks and personality. But Jake was a better reproducer, I just couldn't get use of the white throat and chest.
You know about Rat and Spook, good balance hounds---bred two females to Rat, just to late in his life.

You got some pretty good hounds in your backyard, Bates and Sallee have been known to tree a little game?

Mark and I hunted together a lot over the years. I bred a couple females to males he got from Tom. We don't always agree but we both like good dogs. He has had some dogs that are as good or better than any red dogs in the country. My first hounds were Sallee bred and I crossed one to Mark's male out of Rat and Shyann. Took a pup from that and crossed it to Mark's Boomer dog out of Rat x Raven. My Billy dog was out of that cross. Bred him to a female I bought from Pastor Mike out of Jake and Lexus (Rat x Raven) and got my Buddy dog. Sage will be bred to Ranger and if the pup I keep works out it will be crossed right back in to what I have. Maybe someday I'll be known for treeing some game too lol. I'll tell you for fact there's a couple good hounds in someone's back yard in Kentucky right now that carry some Sallee blood and have a couple males that Mark got from Tom in their papers too. I'm sure I would have liked some of the hounds you mention. As far as the white on Jake goes I don't see good enough in the dark to notice, especially when my ears are ringing.
