Big Winners

I see where Redbones did a lot of winning this week/weekend. It prompted me to reminisce about this year and who the big winners were. It looks like there were several. I wonder who the big winners will be this coming year?

I am sorry, did Woody or Calli win one of those World Championships or UKC National Breed Days? And I didn't know that ACHA still had a World Championship. But thanks for reminding us about Calli and Woody. We had almost forgotten about them. I don't guess that anyone even remembers who won AKC World?

Well I thought you said who the Big Winners were. I don't consider many of the hunts you listed as Big Winners. So now you are famous for winning World Champion Redbone for not even winning a cast and having minus points in a World Championship Hunt? haha

Go try and win a Pro Hunt Richard. Go try your luck at the Breed Challenge Hunt next year. Go head to head with the best dogs in the country and let me know how that works out for you. Let's see who the next Redbone will be to win a Pro Hunt. Let's see who the first Redbone will be to actually win overall World Championship Coondog in any of the majors. Then you will have my attention.

Not trying to stir up trouble here Richard, just stating facts. If I show up at a World Championship and I don't win my cast and I stick around in the cast with minus points for a Redbone trophy, does that deserve more recognition than going head to head with the best dogs in the country and beating them? Some of these titles are a joke and I would say that even if it were my dog that won it, because they have.

Let me see any of these dogs you mention above go out and win a Pro Hunt. There has only been one other Redbone to ever win one and that was Sandy Creek Jake.

I use to be a poker player, and a good poker player at that. But I learned the hard way. Small time players with shallow pockets can't play with the players with DEEP POCKETS. Even the average player with deep pockets will come out on top. It's a different game.

Agree Doc. I went to a $30 open event double header this weekend. There were 42 dogs in the first round I thought it would have been harder to get in the money split on that hunt than would be to become "Championed" at some of those others listed.

Maybe you should tell some of the biggest winning handlers of all time that ACHA and AKC world hunts dont count...last I checked they both pay out over $10k and last year at the ACHA world hunt...which Mac placed 8th overall I drew Bryan Whitted and Scott Engle in the same cast with two nationally known big time winners. I think when the smoke cleared Mac had 575+ and they both had a circle tree apiece.
The year before when I placed 8th with Woody I drew out with Rick Stretch with Frisky and several other handlers and dogs that have all won big national level hunts.
Any hunt that draws the best dogs and handlers from around the country is a big hunt in my book. You guys can go back and fourth on what qualifies and the fact that nobody has won a world championship with a redbone....but some of us have been in the top 16 or closer multiple times with redbones in recent years and any dog that makes it that far is probably capable of winning it if the cards fall just right in those final casts.
I think we have a few dogs that do have the ability...not many...but a handful.
The trouble is some just dont have the time or funds to give those dogs the chance to do it...but there are usually people out there who do and they will help if the dog is for real and has proven itself enough.
Rodger Shabel is a great example of this. If anyone has an honest to goodness "real deal" dog with the ability to win a world championship... I would get in touch with him. I know of no one else who wants to see a redbone win the world championship more than Mr. Shabel. He has helped more dogs get the chance...in one way or another than anyone else I know..... But its got to be the real McCoy! I have helped him look for dogs of this caliber for several years now...supposidly everyone has one tied behind the barn but when they go get em and show em....it becomes obvious that people have varied opinions of what they think a top level world beater is and usually thats where the excuses start.
