-- Female urinating problem. (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928443542)
Female urinating problem.
NOW I ASK YOU PLEASE DO NOT REPLY WITH A SMART ASS ANSWER SUCH AS TAKE HER STRAIGHT TO THE VET PLEASE. THANKS.
I own a female who is in top physical condition. She eats grain free food. She is happy healthy and trees Coons. She has no visible alement or disfigurement. She is in no way acting sick or down.
But.... She pees like a male dog in the sense that she squats every 30 feet walking from the lot to the truck then from the truck through the woods on the first drop. Then usually 2-5 times on the way from the tree to the truck. Sometimes she squats to pee and there is less than a shot glass of pee then there is times she squats and it could fill a milk jug. She has fresh clean water and seems to drink very little.
My question is what could cause this? Urinary tract infection? Dehydration? Stress? Habit? Maybe she's just weird.
Like I said she is acting in no way sick. She has done this for over 6 months.
Thank you for the helpful and respectful replies.
To those who feel like you should try to down me or make me feel inferior please just go somewhere else.

you may have a female marker , i have had 3 or 4 females in the past that would mark just as a male will do and 2 would even cock their leg like a male and i never could get a pup out of any of them and at the time i did believe they had some kind of female problem causing it and all these lived to be 8 plus years old , now years later i have another female that is doing the same as the others were doing and this dog is no kin to them she is a squirrel dog and she has a regular heat cycle and she never marks unless you are out hunting and she seems to smell where a dog has been when she does it and this dog is 7 years old and raised 2 litters of pups and has marked since she was around a year old , the squirrel dog and 2 of the hounds were vet checked and had no Urinary tract infection or bladder or kidney problems all though none of the were checked on the reproductive side of it , if you have had the dog for awhile and she just started doing it 6 months ago it could be a Urinary tract infection that is causing it all though it being 6 months it should be real dark and could even have some blood mixed in when she pees if its not been treated with any kind of antibiotics ..
pup
i got one does just about the same thing im not to worried about it i just always say i might better hunt a male dog thats the reason i hunt females. steve
urine infection
give her antibiotics like amoxicillin for a week and that will cure it
I'd take her to the vet and get her checked, explain what you see in the dog and let the vet check her for perhaps a kidney infection or perhaps too much protein in the urine. I'm sure he has a pretty good idea of where to start; I know that dogs get rid of excess protein through the kidneys and sometimes causes them to urinate more often or in great amounts.
