Heartworm preventative preferences??

What are the pros and cons to different brands of heartworm preventatives? Which ones do y'all prefer and also do y'all reccomend any of the heartworm preventatives that includes the flea preventatives? Thanks!

I prefer Ivermectin at 1% solution. You will find a wide range of "recommended" dosage rates. I use 3 tenth's of a CC on a dog biscuit once a month and have had no problems with heart worms in over 20 years.

I prefer hartguard plus I think it is cause its a wormer and all in one chewable pill. I use ivermectrin cause I cant afford to go to the vet every few months to get the other stuff.

i use ivermec 1/10 cc for every 10 lb shot down the throat every month , i have never had a dog that had heart worms ..

Heartwormer

I use sentinel does roundworms whip and hookworms and it sterilizes fleas eggs which means eventually they die off....

I use ivomec 1 percent 1/10 cc for every ten pounds and then I de worm them for other worms twice a year.

All the above are good choices.

Interceptor Plus is getting really popular now. It is a combination of Milbemycin/Praziquantel so it does hooks, whips, rounds, tapes and heartworm at a reasonable price.

I use ivomec horse wormer in a tube does any one else use it

One of my old plotts tested positive for heartworms years ago after being on hartgaurd for his entire life. It was given religously on the 1st of every month..one thing that always bothered me about hartgaurd was the fact that it only came in a dose that covered such a wide weight range. If a dog weighed 60#, then he either got a heavy rate of ivomec or a 90# dog got a light rate. My vet couldn't explain which dog got the adequate dose. I have been using ivomec1% at 1/10th cc/ 10# body weight ever since and had no problems.
