Binoculars
I'm getting older and I'm having a wee problem spotting coons at night in the trees. Has anyone had success using binoculars at night?

A bright light and a rifle scope helps but conquering old age is a battle that's impossible to win. LOL.
I agree with what you both said, lol. Lack of dog power and old eyes don't combine to good to see coon. I was hoping someone had actually used them.

They have night vision binoculars. Not cheap but might help you out or night vision scope. It is worth a thought stay in the woods as long as you can beats sitting in a chair talking about the days you could hunt.
i was thinking the same thing about using binoculars. Then I realized that my dogs tree possums and chase fox more than they tree coon. And when they tree coon it frequently in the edge of the water. So I decided I'm not going to carry one piece more of equipment. If they tree on a big tree, it's a coon to me. If it's a small tree, it's a possum. If they don't tree, it's probably a fox. I'm too old to worry about it now and I'm happy with that.

i have tried to use binoculars at night and even zeiss and they seem to not gather enough light for night use for me , get you a 3-9 x 40 rifle scope put a tube on the end that fits your eye good where you get full field of view and you will be able to see the tree good or take you a young set of eyes to help look ..
I've used cheap old Bushnell 8x10 binoculars for a couple years now with the new led color I just can't seem to see the coon in the tops of those big old populars. Takes some time to line the light up just right at first but after a few nights you'll have no problem. Can't hurt go give em a try
