Dogs voice?

I bought a year and a half old male over three weeks ago that was supposed to have a huge mouth but when he got here his voice was almost completely gone. he is currently almost done with his second round of prednizone and has shown no improvement. i have kept a bark collar on him and give him lemon juice and honey mustard everyday. Has anyone had a dog loose their voice for this long and it come back? I'm loosing hope and the vet isn't very optimistic about it. I'm not sure how long the dog was like this before i got him either.

Well, I guess I will be the one to say what everyone else is thinking....send the dog back to where ever he came from immediately {for a FULL refund including shipping.} Why did you wait this long??? You bought a dog, it arrived with no voice and instead of spending the first three weeks in the woods enjoying the dog and having fun you have had to nurse on it????
I have never seen a barking mad idiot ever amount to anything, even when they didn't do it so much they "barked themselves out." This dog has stood in a kennel and barked so much at absolutely nothing that it appears he has permanently lost his voice and you are still wondering what to do with him????? Most serious houndsmen wouldn't bother another second even if he got his voice back!!! Dude, the dogs an idiot.

I've seen dogs loose there voice, some it comes back but for the most part especially if they loose it and keep barking alot it's not going to come back.
From my experience I would be even more doubtful it will come back if prednisone doesn't bring it back.

Have you tried the LA200? Ive saw it bring their mouth back 3 different times. I give mine 3CC for 4 days.

Predisone works on dogs that are barked out by blocking the immune system response that causes inflammation of the vocal cords . I use it along with Remedyl which is also an anti-inflammatory . LA 200 is an antibiotic which will help if it is caused by infection . If you have left the dog on complete vocal rest and the prednisone hasn't helped , if you have hunted the dog while on treatment you will end up back at square one . It's like you getting laryngitis yelling at a football game and about getting your voice back and going and yelling again .
You may take him to the vet for examination to check for infection , lymph nodes , polyps , worms ect . It could even be caused by the bedding you are using causing an allergy .
To answer your original question yes it is possible for a dogs mouth to come back after longer than normal periods of time if you solve the problem that caused it if permanent damage hasn't occurred .

Voice

I'm not sure what caused it or how long he has been this way. I'm just guessing it is from barking. He was like this when he got here. I took him to the vet the day I got him. The vet thinks it might be caused from a build up of scar tissue. Once a week I will take the bark collar off and wait for him to bark and he still sounds the same. After he is done with the prednizone I might try la200.

Maybe he needs his tonsils taken out? I used predisone on a few dogs and it always worked, but I've heard of dogs needing their tonsils removed.
