missing one boot
The difference between having an average dog and a great one (regardless of breed) may be as simple as one trait. Like missing one boot missing one trait in your breeding program may throw the whole thing lop sided
So the question is how to you keep you line top notch
How do you isolate and keep the good traits at the top and the trash out
I've heard the arguments of line breeding and inbreeding all the way to you take your two best hounds and they "have" to make good hounds.
I personally believe that no matter what you do part of it is a roll of the dice
But I think a good part of the "leaving it to chance" can be eliminated by carefully selecting the proper crosses.
What do you look for in outcrosses and why
What do you look for in line breeding and why / when is it time for an out cross
Have you inbreed and why / did this accomplish what you wanted
I have my thoughts and willing to share just looking for some knowledge breeders to put heads together maybe we can all learn a little
after readin alot of post on here, you could get mixed replies. Some may help and some may learn, but a few already know it all. Out of all the ?s on here this maybe one of the best lets see what replies or lies you get.
