question for you all

a friends female had pups about 6 months ago. she has always been a real accurate dog but since having the pups she seems to have lost her accuracy. goes hunting great and gets treed but if its not a den she is never on a tree with a coon in it. this whole situatin has him stumped. i told him it could be some imbalance but not sure what. any ideas?

I had a female that was coming along real good and was eventually going to be something worth hanging onto for a long long time......I bred her and after she had pups, she went just plain stupid. Would run the woods and never find a tree to settle down on or want to be caught. Sweet as could be on the chain or leash, but once she knew she was loose, you were spending more time tracking her down rather than shining trees.... Last time I ever hunted her she took a track out to a road, ran 600 yards up the yellow line, and hid under a wicker chair inside some ladys enclosed porch. Thought she was picked up and the collar was dumped in the weeds, but nope she snuck in that porch door and layed under that chair. GOODBYE

My brothers buddies dog is doing the same thing,,before pups,she was deadly accurate and a top contender,,but after pups,she is doing a lot of slick treeing,,and acting stupid,,only time will tell I guess,,I guess I got lucky,,mine had pups afew months ago,,and she is just as good as before she had her pups

Does it not have something to do with age? My very limited experience has told me that we all get in s hurry with our dogs. We want them to tree at six months. Then we want them titled by 18 months. Then bred immediately.

Well not letting the dogs fully mature is the # 1 problem with hounds today. A 3-4 yr old female is a lot less likely to be affected by having pups than a 1 - 2 yr old female.

That must be it,,lol,,cause my female was 4 when she just had her first litter,,and I don't even put a pup in the woods till they are a year old,,I like them to mature some before I put them in the woods,,and they are not mature at 5 to 6 months old

i have seen a few females act strange after having pups all though i have never seen it like what everyone has posted , i know if you hunt a female before the pups are weaned or leave them with the pups to long and keep their weaned pups to close to them it will cause them to get weird and acting funny a lot of times ..

Squirrels maybe..I have been having issues with mine lately.
Correct her when she is wrong,and I would expect her to snap out of it.
