We have linebred a few different Lonnie dogs over the years, with Spring Creek Rock ,Rock River Ring, House's Clint and we never needed another bloodline to hunt on tree game. We still sell pups for coon, cats and bear as they are track dogs that know how to tree game!

Finley River Lonnie

Hi,

Started with pups out of Dan and then Dan 3. Trap was bred to Lonnie, Jefferie, Lipper, and Nite Hawk. Trap was a producer.

I still breed/hunt those linebred dogs. 40 years goes by in a hurry.

Hi! Grant We are still in Northern WIS don't get to shows,hunts and such much anymore too busy hunting our dogs. Your more than welcome to come see the dogs hunt. We have a nice litter of pups right now proven cross that will be ready to go Feb 8th 2 females left picture below! All our dogs are line bred old Mears' Finley River from before 96 as we didn't care for it after that much. We still hunt the same bloodlines we started with and kept if pure. We like our Spring Creek Rock dogs also because it goes very well with Lonnie Mears' stuff! We bred and raised Zip and hunted her also until she got sold.
If you like track and tree dogs that still have big houndy mouths. We have a couple young females that would make great dual GrCh prospects to the right owner also.

Yes Grant we have met in the past 90's when our friend Jim & Nitro was winning shows in three states and went out and treed coon at night. Here are some of our young linebred Spring Creek Rock and Lonnie Mears' old Finley River bred females. We still breed, raise and train all of our young dogs. But we did add some Spring Creek Radar, and most of our dogs carry tons of Finely River Joe also! With a touch of House's Clint. We always did like the old walker blood and kept it pure for almost 30 years! Track and tree dogs!

PKC Ch Dual Gr Ch Mears' Finley River Zoom

Hi,

Zoom was purchased by John Monroe and was at stud until he died at John Monroe's house.

Zoom was out of Trap and Lonnie. John stated in his ad on Zoom that Zoom was the dog he had been looking for to replace Finley River Joe. He stated he would have Zoom until he died and John did.

Trap produced dogs of that caliber routinely. Look at my profile. They are full of Trap dogs 40 years later.

Lonnie pups

I had a female out of Lonnie and Trap that I bought from Mr. Mears. She was a solid dog, made very few mistakes but, also wasn't super flashy in any category. She was a show champion, (her looks were flashy) when I bought her, did get a few wins towards Grand on her but lost interest in it at that time and never did finish her. Never night hunted her. Did get 1 litter out of her and Gr Nite son out of Buffalo River Bandit. That was a nice cross. I got out of hunting for the most part for about 15 yrs.( raising a family). I have a female now from Ruby54501 that must go back to Lonnie at least 6 times maybe more. She is also very solid makes very very few mistakes and has a head full of sense. Very easy to train.
Lonnie was a reproducer for sure. Some where I have I think it was an audio but might have been a video of him treeing, outstanding mouth also! BD

Ahhh...the '90's, Ruby... If I could only go back! Glad to see this blood staying around. I'm pretty sure that there's Lonnie semen stored and am just curious who/if/when/how it will be used. Would like to see it used to make some nice crosses.

Thanks Grandt and Ric. As you can see we still are breeding our own line of dogs not something some one else wanted to give me, but wouldn't take. What makes most people standards usually don't come close to ours! LOL It's why we still have the same quality now as I did when we started! It's like Brian Westman from Greenbush, MN said when you have a great line of track and tree dogs for as long as we have we are spoiled! What people love about the pups is that when hunted they hunt and they love tree game over the fast stuff! It's what we fell in love with all those years ago Grant! Like old Joe Grizzle told us keep breeding the way we have and not let jealous people tell you different keep your breed true! We don't have a crew of people in our breeding program paying our bills. We breed top hunting dogs to hunting dogs that's what's keep the cold nose tracking and treeing ability and our hounds still look like hounds and sound like a hound should. Titles can be had by a dog or handler, here we still like just letting the dogs show what they do in the woods. It's what the dogs does in the woods daily is what we want! Have a great day! Who has the Lonnie semen and will any of it be for sale. I have a female that goes back to Dads GRNTCH Finley River Turbo on both sides that would be a really good candidate for some. Good looking, big bawl mouth and accurate.

Mark Sumrall of Mississippi had some Lonnie semen for sale within the last year or so. Not sure if he has any left or if he sold it.

I have watched your kennel from afar for quiet some time. I like what you guys do. We have a lot in common. I breed for balance with looks to spare and confirmation that you can win at the shows and still be a coondog.
That is a hard one to pull off. I have never taken my eye off the goal of producing a dual world champion hound. It will probably never be done again after being done a time or 2 back in the 60's.
I am getting ever so close. Had one a few years ago that was capable, that was as far as we got. haha I think my next cross will be the closest since that last one about 5 years ago.

Maybe one day we can cross our lines up. You guys are so far up north, its hard to get a pup way down here to Miss.

Had a female out of Lonnie, Coondog, started to split tree (with a coon) at 7 months old. Born broke turned down deer races and armadillo holes while still just a pup. Lonnie X Water Mill Babe, she wasn't the only one out of that cross, Mr. Joe Grizzle (Becky) hunted with her, Steve Bailey (Spook) I hunted Spook for Steve in these South Georgia swamps. Ole Spook made several $10-$12 Thousand dollars dogs look bad. Made one man return a high priced one to it's owner. (treed three coons the Big money dog didn't even know was alive) there were others as well, I just can't remember them all. (Cross was made I know three times) My Fancy female would hold her own with Spook (better most of the time) her problem was she, at times she wouldn't hunt with strange dogs. If she bark three times on him, treed coon. (not just trees). She was a GC with a 1st place win. Her last pup died last year at 14. If I was to start back coon hunting, it would be something as close as I could get to Lonnie.

We loved what Max and Joe Grizzles' Beckey produced for pups. It's one of the reason we have linebred Beckey's pups back on other Spring Creek Rock and Mears' Finley River for almost 30 years and kept it pure for a reason cold nose track and tree dogs. Spook was a outstanding coon dog/competition dogs winning over three different state titles! Lonnie Mears' said he used the Lonnie semen a couple times with no luck. We are going to breed a female to Cook Lake Force semen this year with our bloodline we are thinking it's going to be sweet! Coon Lake Force is out of Spring Creek Dummy and a female that is the same bloodline as our old Ruby female can't wait have waited for this cross! It will be line bred Dummy four or three times. Pups are already spoken for when we do.
Here is Lonnie litter mate to Dott and Lizzy. Lonnie also has a brother down by Rick that some young guys own hunted on coon. Lonnie is at stud $250 proven producer of track and tree dogs on bear, coon and cats. Lonnie's oldest pups is in south west Virginia and the old guy kept the whole litter hunted on bear will be four this fall. His youngest will turn a year in February and they are all hunting coon or cats and doing a pretty fine job in Oregon and Mich,Wis. Lonnie producers a huge bawl cold nosed track and tree dogs.

Midwest Finley River Kennel will probably be using it on Sheba, Trap, Hope, Zippy, or Fame.

Zoom was bred to Becky. Becky was Ziggy's greatgrandmother.

I don't think any will be sold.
