Nite Hunt Question

Dog a strikes first, Dog b strikes second , Dog c strikes third , Dog d strikes fourth .

Dog a trees first
" b " second
tree is closed

get to the tree and dog a & b are split

dog a & b are handled

shine dog a tree and time is up then move to dog b to shine

dog c & d are still tracking

can dog a be cast towards dog c & d while we start to shine dog b tree ?

Thanks in advance
and is there a rule that explains ?

He can but doesn't have to be. Option rule explains it. It deals with split trees but does not state how far apart they have to be so it is at the handlers discretion.

Those already familiar with the rule may know it as the "option rule"....unfortunately there is nothing titled "option rule" on the scorecard or in the rules. You will find what you are looking for under Rule 11. {b}...in part, "upon being scored, dog{s} must be turned loose with other dogs that are opening on trail to compete for next available strike points. However, if dog{s} are already treed, handlers have the option to hold onto or release dog{s} so long as at least one dog is not declared treed."
