!!!---Quick Track Omni & Sportdog Tech 1&2---!!!

Looking for info on these systems, the Good & Bad. How do they compare to Garmins ?
I have the Garmin 320 w/ DC50......it's a Good system, just curious if there is something Better that is available ?

I only want input from guys that have actually used these systems.
Thanks.......Tim

The omni looks pretty sweet. I think double U is doing a review. Sounds like it's got some bugs. The technology is definitely there hopefully they give Garmin some real competition. I can't comment on the Sportdog never seen one used. Always had a garmin but wouldn't hesitate switching if I thought there was a better product. I hope it's Quicktrack with a longer history of dog equipment. I get tired of garmins sh*t

The tek 2lt has all the basis covered but the controls on the hand held are terrible as far as range its great.. they are more of a bird hunters unit. by that i mean if you have a big runnin hound you cant zoom in on the track i hate that and is the main reason i got rid of it. if they would consult with coonhunters in the design process it might help. i think if they could do a touch screen instead of the round knob for the zoon i would use it for sure. in short great technology poor design.

Tech.....

I really could care less about it zooming in on tracks, I very seldom even use the Map part on my Garmin........Just need to know the direction and distance, that's about it. Was really looking at the Sportdog Tech 1, just Tracking, don't need the shocking part.
Keep the replies coming.
Thanks,.........Tim

the omni is a good ideal if you are hunting where you have real good cell service other wise it cuts it down on distance , the bad is it will take them the next 10 years to work the bugs out ..
you can't even compare a tek 1 to a 320 or a 220 for that matter ..
i would stick with the 320 myself unless you want the extra bells and whistles i would upgrade to a alpha ..
i doubt you get any input from someone that has used the omni because its to new and i doubt anyone on here has took and chunked out the money to be a quick track test mole and go through the rigors with them to work out all the glitches and bugs for the next few years , i wonder how they have it fixed as for the air time on a cell as for eating minutes and roaming and other stuff , all i have seen about the omni i never saw anything about how much cell time it eat and that is something i would look into if i was going to buy one for sure ..

I was told by the guy at Sportdog at Autumn Oaks that they tested the Tech 2 against the 320 and they said the Sportdog blew the Garmin away......and of course, I don't know if it was a Sales Pitch or not. I had the Alpha, don't need all that. The 320 is alright, heck of a lot better than the Beep Beep Systems. If the Range was better with the Sportdog, and the not losing signal as much....I would buy one.

sales pitch , i doubt anyone through sportdog is going to say any other brand is better than theirs , just like pulling into a chevy dealership and asking them what they think about a ford , the only hunters i have heard say they liked tek's better than garmin were older hunters and they say they are easier to use and they like the knob and they like simple , if you ever try a tek i would say it would be hard to pry that 320 out of your hands after you do , the tek said 7 miles tracking i never saw it track nowhere close to that , they are a beeper box with a screen that don't track as far as a beeper box ..

tek 1

Easy to use great range , but I have had my system for almost 3 years now and every 6 months at least 1 out of the 2 collars goes in for repair because it wont pick up signal or reads distance wrong always 800 yards off and always same 2 problems. The good side is they stand behind items they sale warranty work every repair so far.

If you dont use your Garmin to its potential (just want direction and yardage) than any of these systems are fine.

But they are crap compared to a 320. Let alone an Alpha

I have,,I got 8.7 miles from mine before it lost connection,,BUT that was with using my vehicle antenna,,using the regular antenna,,I averaged 2.5 to 4 miles.
That was with my 320,,I haven't tried my alpha yet with the vehicle antenna
