GARMIN TROUBLES-- Help appreciated

I have a dc 30 ... I used my Garmin dc 30, on my pup other night, my buddy has a 320... he was tracking the hounds, I added my collar to his system and was workin with his system.... I turned pup out and it his collars-dc40 were working at 200 yards easy, with shortest antennae... and he lost my dog at 100 yards... I don't know what to do... Please give me advice.. What could it be? Do I need to send it off? to where for a good price?

May just need updated ,you can do this yourself by logging on to garmins website and using a USB cord to hook up to a computer .Call garmin an they can explain it may also require you to do a hard reset . After speaking to them and going through their trouble shooting if it's under warranty and still not working they will have you send it in and send you a new or refurbished collar for free if it's not under warranty idk what they charge . 1(800)800-1020

Also, check screws where the antenna is attached sometimes they get dirty and loose .

His handheld was fine didn't need updating. I will give them a call. U agree I should get more range than 100 yards? I added the collar so I know it was right, his other 2 dogs theeyre 40s and they were just as far as her and weren't even going in and out of signal.. Mine wouldn't pick up unless It was right beside me.

Sounds like you have an antenna problem,,I would take cover off and make sure wire isn't broken and connector is clean,,I had one that looked clean but wasn't getting and range,so I removed screw and cleaned the connector and collar worked fine after that

Potential could be the software on the collar itself, Ive always had problems running other guys collars on mine unless I updated theirs to match mine. DC30s are getting a bit outdated already and its hard to tell exactly. I still have my old 220 dc30s and dc40s but currently am on my second set of the Alpha and now TT15 minis and as long as I don't update or mess with my old system it still works well as a back up. I did update the handheld once before and had similar issues so I reinstalled the previous software and it solved it. Side note I have had a lot of issues with the stock antennas on all my collars not as much with the beagles but the coondog destroys them on all the systems and once I changed out with the Tuff Skinz they seamed to work as good as new.
