Tips on how to get a pup to tree
I have a 6 month old wipeout pup she will burn a track up alone or with another dog. She just doesn't tree. She will track and tree a hide (because she can see a hide) but in the woods she doesn't know to tree, while the other dogs are treeing she's still running around. I've tied her to the tree still nothing.. Yes I know she is still very young and most aren't in the woods this young but I start mine young. I've never had problems with getting a pup to tree. I've heard wipeout dogs are great trackers but lack in treeing. Any tips on what to do as she gets older?
Same problem
I had the same problem with a walker dog I had she had the nose but didnt want to tree unless she could see it the way i fixed the problem I started trapping some caged coons and letting her see them go up the tree but once they got up she couldnt she the coon forgot to mention I would wait till it got dark and I would tie her and get her exited enough to bark then when she would start treeing I would pet her up real good and shoot the coon out after about three coons she had it figured out. Also she was 10 months old when I was doing this 6 months old is a little two small to be letting them fight the coon alone so you may just want to work her on the tree and not shoot them out to her unless you have another dog to help her a little.

The wipeout generally don't starting to tree until later in life if they start then!!!! The bottom line is you can take some tree out but your not putting it in if its not there !!, hunt the pup and if she has it she will start treeing if she don't she won't !! There isn't any tricks to put something there that isn't !!but I would say in time she will start!!!
Here is my tip- Let the pup grow up a few more months! Some dogs start really early, but most need some time to grow up and mature first.

DO NOT show her any hides and let her tree on sight. I'm telling you just keep her in the woods. That showing them hides and caged coon up trees is not a good thing. If I had her if she has not started treeing by 14-15 months then I might would make some sent drags but DO NOT let her tree by sight. Just trying to help.

? The pup was shown three hides never showed her a caged coon so not sure where u got that from? I asked for advice that's all
pup
buddy I hunt a lot of young dogs! just keep taking her to the woods alone. when that natural ability kicks in she will let you know. as far as getting one to treeing its all up to what is in the pup. should not have to use hides or what ever else. not easy to take a pup and train it. lot of walking.. good luck! jmo

As I stated she is very young I do not expect this dog to be doing anything "spectacular" right now I was asking mainly because of the wipeout bloodline. I've seen wipeout dogs not tree till 2 years old so was wondering deri g if there were any tips to help her
You stated, you like to start them young. Then you say you know Wipeout pups don't tree until they're older. Why in the world did you get a Wipeout pup?
First one I've owned. Wanted to try one out.
Whether she trees now or a year from now not co cerened about that. And when I said I start them young I never said I expect them to be world beaters. I just like to put them in the woods young
I get my information from first hand account in thin coon !!!!! They might tree them up there where there is plenty of coon but in thin coon I haven't seen but one thatstartedtreeing at6 months old and the wasnt the norm hell I have one now that's as good as any track dog sucking air and she isn't 100% locking on every tree yet !! Oh she just turned 3 so there you go !!!! None are the same but a lot f wipeout dogs gets sold to young as people expecting them to be like there's too the tree monsters !!!!!! The originator of the wipeout line has jumped outta the truck more then one night trying to get to one before they leave the tree!!!!😳
I got one that's 2 Ive hunted with lots. Hes as fast as any Ive ever saw. He want tree either unless you count the bear that night. Id sale him

I didn't make this post expecting to get a miracle and my dog be treeing tomorrow lol. And with Mr Bruce's comment that all she's been learning is to jack the tree. She is a pup and she sees the hide. If you have trained pups you'll k ow they get excited. I'm no rookie in this sport. So I know what I'm doing. It's always good to ask for other opinions. I learn new things everyday. I am also no competition. Hunter so if she jacks around some it doesn't hurt my feelings. I go to the woods and have a good night. I'm not about bragging rights and money. I do it for fun. I will continue hunting the pup. I hunt 4 nights a week so if its in her she will make it. If she doesn't by the time I think she should be doing g better she will be gone. Thanks to the guys with positive tips.
Why do people try to make dogs tree? 6 months old lmao cant believe this is a question, keep it up bud hell be a world champ in a couple months

The hardest tree dog I ever owned didn't start treeing till about 12 or 12 months old.

I dont expect any blood out of a turnip. 6 months old tells you most all you need to know. In 6 more months come tell us what's going on then.

I mean I do not expect my 6 month olds to tree. They need to be pups first. A lot of stuff can be worked on at that age that matters. Treeing aint one of them. Id bet by a yr old this pup will be treeing.
