Stay treed?
What stud dog would you breed to if you were wanting stay put tree dogs? I've hunted with two dogs in the many years i've been on this earth that were real stay put tree dogs, that didn't care what was going on around them, and didn't have a mean bone in there body.
I think a truly stay put tree dog has to have several mean bones in their body ( to handle fang pressure- see below) ... If you are including competition hunts....
I can count on one hand the # of trees Zero has left.. He a quick, accurate, tree dog and once parked he is there to stay, for howeverlong it takes, by himself, with company, with other dogs treed 10 ft or a mile away or with dogs running junk all around him..
The few trees he has left is due to severe FANG pressure... He won't fight... yet. I hope the day never comes when he does, but I know it's coming, but for right now, he's a wuss... On the good side, he figures out the mean dogs quick and stays away from them and trees his own coon, the problem is when the mean dog covers him.
A Good example of Zero's stay put ability is a pkc hunt about a year back, walker dog w 30k lifetime earnings and zero split 50 feet apart- trees not touching... Had to wait the 5 min on Zero
(long story, another dog was in the box, but hadn't been officially withdrew, so the judge used that to his advantage and I couldn't handle Zero...so he could try to squall zero off his tree so he'd draw minus because zero was ahead)..
5 minutes of the judge squalling, shaking vines- everything he could do to pull zero off his tree...with the walker treeing 50 ft away... I just smiled...
Zero didn't pull... plus he had his coon and the Judge's dog didn't.. That was a sweet win......

Sounds like Zero will stay treed, but it's probably to early to know if his pups will.I'll keep an eye on him.
I'll look into Rejet.Wonder how many pups he has on the ground, and where some of them are?Would be interested in hunting with a young dog out of him.
stay put
GrNite Arnolds Blue Rock never was minused for leaving. First time he ever treed he was about 10 to 20 yards from his mother , shot her coon he just treed harder. He is the most stay put dog ive ever seen. Now owned by Casey Bigalow.

Yeah.... rocks not leaving... good bad or ugly he is there to stay.... He can handle the fang pressure too.. He only has the One litter on the ground, little over a year old. there will be some titled dogs out of that litter...4 that I know of are running n Treeing raccoons... My 2 year old son loves rock, he always picks rocks pen to go in cause rock loves up on him w/o jumping up on my son... He's real careful w him...
Yep, zeros oldest pups are 13-14 weeks old, so way too young to tell.. only things I know about them so far is they have good puppy mouths, the two I have are clean in the kennel n they will Tree a cat.... I hate pups that poop everywhere and run through it all day.. My two do their business at the very end of the kennel like old dogs
