Kennel

Right now I have one hound in a kennel with dirt floor. What's the best alternative besides concrete I could put for flooring? When it rains it's holds water bad. Thanks

I use 3-4 inches of crushed stone for a base, then I put 2'x2' patio blocks on top..... durable, portable, and lets water drain between blocks..

Mining Belt

If you can find some rubber mining belt thats the fastest and cheapest floor you can use that will last a concrete slab is best but the mining belt is second and its not permanent.

any issues w/ digging?? half of mine are dirt, half are the horse stall mats. dirt ones have some of the patio blocks as well. digging is my issue.

would the gravel w/ blocks stop digging???

No, it will not. Even crushed run or CR-6 as it is sometimes called, which will lock up tight and pack very good can still be dug into by a dog. Once you have dogs that will dog about the only cure is concrete. I guess the mining belt would work too, I cant imagine a dog digging thru that.
The other problem I had with the block and gravel thing was smell....sooner or later that gravel gets saturated and goes septic and it is hard to get rid of unless you dig it all out and remove it. My second chioce would be the composite decking but on the ground I would have it nailed without gaps so nothing could get under it. You have to be able to clean it up either way, concrete on top or raised slotted floor like an above ground so you can get under it.

Lime can help, and bleach is a great disinfectant, but when it came to smell the only thing I ever tried that really did work and work good was a dry powder deodorizer made by Zepp Chemical. I will see if I can find the product number and post it for you. Pretty sure you can just call or go online and have it shipped. I was not expensive and went a long ways.

Okay, I found the two I have used...Amazon.com sells the best one, it's called "Sink the Stink" by Trident. It only comes in a 4 ounce bottle, but don't be fooled by the size...this stuff is powerful and goes a long way.
Next is Zep Chemical "Smoke Deodorizer" and it is sold by Home Depot. Between the two your odor problems will cease to exist.
