Videos ???
Here's a question that has crossed my mind on these boards for years now.
How come with all of the dogs advertised as being Stud potential, that its rare that anybody ever posts a video of the dog at the tree ?
With todays cell phones and other gadgets its bout as simple as it gets to take a 1 minute video to advertise voice, style, chop/bawl mouth etc.
There hasta be some reason a fella isnt using the technology.....????
What am I missing here??
Thoughts ??....comments ??

I've had the same thoughts.... I have a thread on my zero dog and had 2 videos of him Treeing posted.... the other day I opened it up to show a friend n played " zero Treeing"... only it wasn't..... somehow pbotobucket had replaced something n the video that opened was a young pup off rock or poncho Treeing.... sounded good, but a fair amount different than zero..... the link had worked for months... I kinda wonder how many folks watched it and said " ,huh, nothing special" hahaha.... it was a 7 month old pup. I guess I say that to say it's a pain in the butt to upload the video n then it usually don't work right... what amazes me is the # of ads that don't include necessary info like pedigrees

Studs
How bout the ones that you try to set up a hunt so you can see the dog go in person & it's never a good time, too hot, too cold, too rainy, too much snow, I gotta work, gonna be outta town this week or weekend, this list is never ending not all promoters are like this but there are several. I'm not a breeder at all I may raise a litter once every 4-5 years for myself but I personally will not breed to a male I can't see go for myself period!!

I have bought my share of pups based on what somebodys buddy says on the boards about the stud and potential of the litter, but then again thats coonin and coon dogs. Kinda like askin a catfisherman what he used fer bait....and what hole he caught em in...
Im not thrashin anybody or their ways..just sayin I think it wud b a better advertisement for buyer to make a decission on...
And....maybe in alotta cases for the seller also....???

Good Idea??
You know, that's a pretty good idea but it will only get you a couple minutes of treeing. It will get you, his looks, tree style, mouth and hopefully how he acts around other dogs, (males & females) up on the tree. No doubt it will be better than a still picture but what about track mouth, (too much or not enough) track speed, locate, hunt style, mannerism; I guess you could keep digging if you wanted to. If possible, go hunt with the dog and take your best when you do. Even then only one or two nights won't tell all. The off spring of the male is probably your best bet but then again, the female plays at least 50% in the pups. Your suggestion is a very good start but still a lot remains to be seen. At the very least it could be the deciding factor between two different studs. Good Post!
I like to take videos. I don't think that is a big secret, especially if you're friends with me on Facebook. Videos are like anything though, they can be skewed. I prefer to take a video walking in, so you know there isn't a dead coon hanging on the first limb making the dog tree harder. I agree with Ron, it can just show tree style and what they sound like, but then again, it is another thing to offer that should be utilized more. Not many people can stand dogs barking, but isn't it strange us coon hunters can listen to a nice tree dog and feel enjoyment? haha

Video
Brandon.... yes, in my mind a video is not much better than the picts if a guy doesnt start to run the camera at least a few hundred yds from the tree.
Then a guy can tell alot more about intensity etc w/out the dog treein harder just because yer standing right there.
Ron.... yes, agreed ...alot more to the equasion than just at the tree, but until garmin starts making COONHUNTERS DRONES to record the track it will be a hard show to tape....lol.
Quite frankly I agree 100 percent on the packing up n going to hunt the dog...if I was 10 years younger id prob do it but not much anymore....just me tho. Im just a hide dogger that cant get blu dogs outta my brain.
