To Hot For Autumn Oaks

Way to hot for dogs and handlers, I bet it will be 80 degrees when dogs cut loose. The coons are running horrible here in Indiana the later the night the better the hunt.

I can guarantee it will not be near as hot as it was in 2011. I hunted out of the Convoy, Ohio club. it was 95 degrees at dark & HUMID !
Coons not moving much then either. I scored 650 Circle on Friday. Lots of Leaves, cover, & Tall Corn.
Daytime temps both days at the grounds were near 100.

I think issues like deer hunting in the fall really makes a difference anymore. Besides Labor Day helps with travel. If you have coon dog can it ever be to hot.

Nothing to complain about

Highs in the upper 80's and lows mid 60's is what I'm hearing.

What I'm saying if you move it to October deer hunting effects guides. It would me. I lose woods from October till January. It's a pain for me to guide to good woods after October

Posted by deschmidt27 on 09-02-2015 08:44 PM:

If travel time allows, with the given deadline, you either want to head immediately to the woods as soon as you can, or wait till after 10:00.

When it's hot, coon get thirsty and will come down in the daytime, at least in Indiana. And then they wait until they come down again. There's a low likelihood of hitting hot tracks at dark, unless it's raining to cool things off. A lot of people think the coons waited and came down later, but in reality, they came down earlier, around 2-4, to quench their thirst.
