Lights........

Depends in what you need in a light.
Do you like the Brightest Light in the woods ?
Do you like a flooded light or tight spot ?
Do you like a Caplight, Box Light, or Beltlight ?
Do you want Color on one or more of the LED's ?

I have come to the conclusion that I don't care for most Caplights, I prefer a Beltlight. Sam Davis makes the only Caplight that I like, it's the Featherweight and you can get a Color with it if you want.
Sam has a new one out that I have not seen yet, it's called the Bushwhacker and supposed to be nothing like it, except the Gravedigger that Brighteyes sells, and the two are basically the same light I think.
I will probably buy the Gravedigger Plus at Oaks.
Good luck.

I have a Sunfire Ultra HD. I like it for coon hunting and I am very satisfied. I will say that there are really no bad ones out there. I believe that anyone who buys any of the premier coon hunting lights advertised on this forum or "Coonhound Bloodlines" will be real happy with what they get.
There is one thing I can say that might be considered an issue for the owner. If you like to video or photograph your dogs at the tree you want a light that has a wide flood. Many of today's coon hunting lights are a real tight spot to find a coon way up in the top of the tallest trees and make no mistake, they will do it. But, if you want to use it to help get enough light for a good video with your Garmin Virb or Go Pro you will want a light that has flood capabilities.

The new sunfire is pretty good. Has a flooded walking light and a light built in cap on mine. No way Id ever be in the dark like that. Has 2 colored lights and a bright spot. Only thing it could possible improve on would be the brightness of the colors. I wish it was brighter.

I'm not a big fan of the leds. I don't like that brite white it's almost to much. And don't Iike the reds and greens. The color is to much. It's like coons Dont like to look at leds. Right now I have the nite lite brand coon hunters favorite. Straight out the catalog. Coon eyes show up better wit that lite than any led if ever seen. But at the same time I'd like it to be a lil brighter for wen they're not lookin. And wouldn't mind havin a battery not as big and blocky

i'm beginning to think the capability of allot of these lights has far surpassed the need honestly. I have a Sunfire mini HD that I think the world of and would recommend it to anybody. That light is 70,000 lux, there are lights out there now that are 140,000 lux. I honestly don't see the need beyond the 70,000 lux I'm carrying now, in my opinion if you can't see it when I light it up with my light your not going to see it at 140,000 lux or 10,000,000 lux for that matter. I just drew out with a guy last night who seamed to have a light very close to mine for brightness. I asked him what that light was he was using because I didn't recognize it. He laughed and said it was the best $150 he ever spent and showed it to me. it was just some cheap knock off and it didn't have a colored led (you had to use a pop cover) but I'm telling you when it came to seeing a coon with your bright light "I didn't have anything over on the kid there" bottom line I'd be more concerned with price versus bells and whistles because if you just make sure your getting 70,000 + on the lux trust me it will be bright enough IMO.

I don't know about the others but the Sunfires, starting with the HD Ultra have a tint of yellow. No coon likes to look at a bright light. I have amber as my color just because back in the day when we started using colors the amber seemed to work the best. I don't know how they do it but my Sunfire will make eyes {or a reflector} glow when it is shined real near 90 degrees the other way. It floods the whole tree and will still cause a shine. If the coon is there and he looks...you will see his eyes easy even though the colors seem a little dim.

I have used a lot of different lights. Spent a pile of money on them over the years. Bought one off Amazon for $70 that is the best bang for the buck I ever had in a light. Don't remember the name of it but it is LED....10 watt I think....very light weight....Looks identical to the one sold by DC Lights on this board.

Several folks in our area are using this cheap light and are pleased with it. I have had mine over a year now and it has held up to my expectations of my high dollar lights for a whole lot less money!!!

My son bought 2 of those for his trucking business.. work great then my nephew bought one from one of the supply dealers(not to mention any name) the lights were exactly the same except for a name etched on it. LOL!

use whatever you like but coons not wanting to look at an led is just a load of crap. I dont care if its bright white or that yellow tint. i got a sniper with bright white can turn it all the way up and they still look!!! Just look at rays pictures in the venders sectionas a matter of fact if i could have gotten it wirhout color i would have they look just as good with the white!

Sometimes that really is the case but sometimes not. I really have found a few coons with a red led then switched to bright and there just was no seeing the coon with the white light but it would still look at the red.

I use a k-light blackout belt light and have had a boss light! I choose the klight over any light and in my opinion which is not much the customer service is above and beyond any other.

I use the Bright Eyes Sniper, but I don't need the brightness for shining trees as much as I need it getting through the woods. I'm old and wore out and stumble through the woods like I'm drunk. Use to I could get through the woods on a bright night without a light, now I trip and stumble over everything. It's tough to get old.
