My sister is looking for a dog inside dog that will bond with her but more so with her doughter shes going on 3 she wants a dog that goes everywhere she goes and knows where she is 100% of the time or close to that i told her that the best dog i could think of is a cur but not shure what line or type would be the best any of you guys have any thoughts on this even if its another breed of dog my sister is moving up into the mountains where my father lived he passed last weekend thats the reason for the dog

If you want a tree dog for her your probably on the right track. I don't think tree dogs come any more loyal than a cur and I don't think it matters if you go Mountain cur, Tennessee Brindle, Stephen's or a handful of others I think they all have that loyal charictaristic but if your not necessarily looking for a tree dog and just want a big family oriented dog for the kid that would lay down it's life for her, personally I would would go with a lab. Labs are one of the most family oriented dogs you'll find and generally not aggressive unless protecting a family member.

I agree on the lab.....I bear hunt and coon hunt and also duck hunt, I love my hounds, but when it comes to obedience and Brains, the Labs have it, and they will love you like a child lol Don't regret getting mine at all

Golden retriever we bought one for my boy she was a pup and my boy around 8 mths old at the time. The 2 are thicker then thevies. The dog is by my boy more then she isn't.

I woud get a lab or retriever or a setter my self for kid or go to shelter and get a good looking crossed up young dog ..

But if kid is little a small fiest pup might be the ticket ..

Sence she is moving up to mtns I personly woud suggest a big blue gascon type bluetick one that will grow up to be 70-100 lbs my buddy has one these and his boy and it are around each other all time and this dog is good hunting dog as well as as a very protective family companion ..I could go on and on about the big blue hound but I won't ..the smaller type blues are bread up to high to hunt hunt hunt more and more comption blood in um and woud be morec likey take off and leave kid in dust the gascon type hunt good but seem to be more loyal I know this dog checks on this kid a lot .. And there size alone scares of things that might pose threat to a family or child..

Rottweiler pup would be the perfect dog !!! Loyal to the end. ,will stay with her daughter and watch over her ,very easy to house break and as smart as any dog there is !!!!! The smaller the dogs the more health issues as my old vet use to say the smaller the more $$$$$$$$ to keep healthy !! And I'm assuming her and her daughter will be alone. In the mountains with a rott they won't have any worries!!!!! Don't belive any of the hype they are just like any dog what the owner makes them!!!and they will take abuse that little kids dish out and do know more than lick her daughter to death !!! I have raised Pitts ,rots hounds ,Boston Terriers ,and some Minnie pins and some other small dogs the wife has had and the Rottweiler has been the smartest and your description as to what she is looking for !!!

german shepard is pretty hard to beat out of the right stock for all the qualitys you described. the laid back kind .they do whats necessary if push comes to shove.plenty of intelligence ,and loyal as they come plus great coats for colder temps.there are the other kind that are always on edge i would steer clear of for a pet.no offense to whomever said rottys.ive owned a few rottys ,and seen quite a few that just are the wrong breed for a family dog.they push push push ,and are always trying to dominate instead of just being a loyal companion .its too hard to get a good one.as far as hounds i have 1 out of 7 that qualifies as a good house dog .some hounds make good house dogs ,but there are alot that make lousy house dogs.labs are good bet too especially if you get one with a brain .ive seen alot these days that there just isnt much going on between the ears.due to overbreeding for the pet trade.the problem also is even if you get a good dog in some of the popular breeds they end up having so many health problems .they seem to fall apart at such a young age or get cancer.

Hands down the Boykin Spaniel is by far the best companion dog that one could have for a pet. They are smart, happy, friendly and I have never seen one that was not the most loving of all breeds. My wife has been fortunate enough to have had two that were just out of this world little friends. Both were females so I will modify my earlier statements. The first one could find her own Easter eggs and could dance when she was asked to. the second was so good that before my wife dicided to have her fixed she worn papers her first two heat cycles and never ever tried to take them off. We had the last one 16 yrs. and I must say it broke our hearts when we had to put her down.

All seriousness I recommend Doberman Pinscher. My dad has 2 and if anyone tries to lay a finger on my dad or my mom them dogs are on you. And they are smart they know when your playing around pushin him or you mean it. They know my parents car, my sisters, my truck, and my wife's and grandmas cars. Any car outside of that comes down the driveway they anit gettin out of the car,diesel (the oldest) stays in front of the car where you can see him through the windshield teeth showing and chop barking and Ace (the young'un) circles the car both while showing teeth. One of us has to go out an call them off lol it's pretty nice knowing people can't just walk our yard. And they are super loyal

Cur Dog

When I was a kid I had a Cur she went everywhere with me. She was the most loyal dog to not just me but my family she literally guarded my sister when she was pregnant and then guarded my niece. she was my nieces buddy till My Cur finally passed away after she was almost 14 years old. By far the smartest dog Ive been around and very protective. Personily I find Labs to be complete Idiots most of the time but they do make good companions just dumb ones.
