-- how do you hunt (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928427334)
how do you hunt
Are you a strictly pleasure hunter. A comp hunter or do you do both and why do you hunt the way you do
I myself am strictly a pleasure hunter when i started coon hunting 6 years ago its what i did. I enjoy just getting together with friends in the mountains and listening to all the dogs run and tree together. I personally dont need a trophy or title to know that my dogs do what they were bread to do but thats just me how about you guys and gals
I also only pleasure hunt,,I enjoy both hunting with buddies and hunting alone,,I usually hunt alone when I'm training a pup,,that way it has my full attention, but if I have a finished hound,,I enjoy taking up some hunts with buddies and enjoy listening to the hounds work
I do both but only go to a few local hunts. Mainly just like to pleasure hunt.
I do both. I don't take the comp hunting as seriously as some but after pleasure hunting all week I sure do enjoy taking my dog to a hunt on the weekend to see what he can do. I keep it fun, if I win I win, if I don't I don't. Comp hunting get's an awful bad rap on this board sometimes. Most the time it's every bit as much fun as pleasure hunting with your buddies and I've made a allot of good friends at the hunts that I wouldn't have if I didn't attend hunts.
I also do both and I agree that nite hunts do get a lot of undeserved bad posts on here. We tend to remember and discuss all the bad things that happen, however rare they are. That's just one of those things that can be good and bad both...we can all learn from it when mistakes or bad things happen at a hunt, but it can also cause folks to think too much about bad stuff happening and maybe not want to attend.
You don't hear much about the good times in nite hunts, but there are plenty, like meeting new friends, seeing some really good dogs to maybe get a pup off of or breed to later that you otherwise wouldn't even know were out there. Even showing Lenhart the error of his ways because he don't hunt a bluetick all combine to make nite hunts a lot of fun!!!

I barely ever nite hunt in ukc. Iv guided and judged and spectated more than hunted. I nite hunted in acha frequent. But mainly that's just cause my catfish pup ain't quite ready for comp hunts. Pleasure hunt alot. My older female is to skiddish round new people for comp hunts. I enjoy both. But bein stuck wit someone I despise can suck on a nite hunt. Pleasure huntin I can pick and choose.
